30 Day Shred Day 1
Tuesday, May 25, 2010
So, I bought the 30 Day Shred this past Sunday, in the hopes that this would be the "magic cure" to that dreadful plateau I've been on the past couple months. Well, I am very happy to say that miss Jillian didn't let me down, by any way, shape or form!
To start, this DVD consists of 3 separate workout intensities. I thought at first when I bought it that it was 3 separate workouts for different target zones, but each workout whether it's the Stage1 beginner mode, or the super advanced Stage 3, she targets all major muscle groups - and accomplishes all of this in 20 MINUTES - yes, you heard right! Now, since I've been jogging the past few months, I thought at first, "heck, who needs beginner phase 1", but I thought I'd better be safe than sorry, especially since I was still sore from my 30 or so laps on Saturday. I'm glad I started with phase 1!!!! I wore my HRM but it was on the fritz (guess since it's a wristwatch version, I was waaay too sweaty for it to read) - so all I can say is SWEAT, SWEAT, SWEAT!! I was actually PANTING, my heart was pounding and it felt GREAT! I had to do a couple modified moves - oh yeah, forgot to mention - there's two gals behind her that demonstrate Jillian's movements in an advanced and modified version, so it's easier to follow. She's got this one move called "the Butt-kicker" where it sounds easy to describe, but you literally raise your heel to your A$$ and kick away! Man! Simple movements like jumping jacks really get your HR up and you literally drop to the ground and do push-ups, crunches then right back up to your feet to do lunges, punches and dumbell raises. You work IT ALL!!
Now, today the aftermath! Between swimming and shredding I am sore all over. I also decided for a cool-down after the vid, I went for a half hour walk which at times seemed more like a stroll since my legs were again jell-0 ified. Guess not too bad in a day's work. Now, hopefully I'll be able to shake off some of this soreness and continue with Phase1 tonight. It's only 20 minutes so you can actually have a LIFE and do something beneficial for yourself as well. I have faith that the scale will once again start cooperating with me and begin leaning to the left rather than just STAYING there, not moving either way. Guess it's much better than to the right though! LOL
*sore smiles*
