Running Journal 5/26/2010 (7 sweaty miles)

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Today's stats:

P Cloudy 82 degrees wind NW 7 MPH
58% humidity
66 degrees dewpoint

Time 1:23:35 (2/1 intervals)
11:56 av pace
5.0 av MPH
672 cals burned
151 av bpm HR
166 max bpm HR

Splits:
1) 11:28 (140 bpm)
2) 11:11 (151 bpm)
3) 12:13 (146 bpm)
4) 11:41 (156 bpm)
5) 12:24 (153 bpm)
6) 12:08 (154 bpm)
7) 12:24 (154 bpm)

Even though this was another sweaty soggy run it was somewhat easier and I think it was because the humidity is starting a downward trend. I also chose a route that had shade and that helped alot. I am thinking about changing my intervals back to 3/1 for next time. At one point I was carrying two bottles of water with ice cubes clunking so that was mildly hysterical. One of these days I am going to have to break down and wear a belt for my water and that is not my idea of a good time.

I am now shooting for a 5-6 mile run Saturday morning and that would make 18-ish mile week and thats not too bad given the temps this week. By then I hope I will have my Dryroad Elite no-show socks by then...woot! Its a pretty sad day when socks excite me.

I also found out today that I will most likely be on cholesterol meds for like forever due to genetics. Great. I have been really watching what I have been eating plus taking fish oil along with my cholesterol meds and my numbers will still higher than what they should be. So doctor increased my dosage and suggested I double the fish oil. Boo.

That is about it for now and until the next riveting installment...

Toodles!

I get excited over socks too! Believe it or not I have had high cholesterol since I was little. They thought about putting me on meds in second grade but I did a strict diet first. Last time I had it checked it was borderline high...sometimes you just can't help it.

Good job on your run. I'm really struggling adapting to warm weather running.
I just got a new fuel/water belt and I loooooove it. I seriously can't even tell it is on while running....very comfy....10x better than my old one.

I'm pretty boring on the sock front. Mostly Hanes wicking socks. I should probably get some of the really sexy socks and see what all the fuss is about.

Nice job on the run. An hour was plenty for me in that soup. I was feeling the imbalance of one bottle on Sunday, so two would have either balanced me, or thrown me over the edge, probably. I've got one of those hand strap bottle holders, and it worked okay. I've only used it twice now, though.

I've been trying to rethink my routes so I am in the shade more too! Im dreading tomorrow, but we did get a little rain storm today so I hope it cools things off a bit. Sounds like you made the best of what you had to work with. emoticon Im not sure what my feelings are on the belt either but Im going to have to figure it out.
