That's what I'm gonna be come July 19th if I don't get my butt in gear!
I volunteer at a week-long camp for (160!!) at-risk youth (9-11 year olds at risk for gangs, drugs, dropping out of school). Usually I work out at the campsite, where each group comes out and gets to ride horses, go on a nature hike, eat barbequed hot dogs and burgers, and have s'mores and sing campsongs around a camp fire at night, before finally retiring for the night around 10pm. (Sounds easy, right?)
Well, I found out Sunday that I was selected to be a counselor this year.
These kids will pick me apart like a black bird on roadkill if I don't redouble my efforts to get in shape! So, I am recommitting myself to the C25k, assuming these unseasonal late Spring storms get over with! I have also been continuing Zumba and riding bikes with my daughter when weather allows! Also getting out and getting some gardening done (attempting to put in a vegetable garden for the first time)!!
I HAVE to do this to increase my energy and stamina - the counselors go pretty much non-stop from 7am - like 9 or 10. EVERY. DAY. I also need to do some back-strengthening exercises, because one thing for sure is that my back gets VERY tired when standing around too long. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
ALSO, I need a camp name. Can't be vulgar, racist, insensitive, etc. The kids never know our professions until the last day of camp, so it shouldn't be work related. I could use some ideas!!
Well, kiddo is off to school - time to get out for a run!
