My HRM was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday. I headed to the gym before work this morning, eager to try it out. I was pleased to discover that all of the cardio machines at my gym are "Polar equipped," meaning that my Polar HRM can sync with and transmit directly to the machine! No more fooling with those silly hand sensors. I also noticed that according to my HRM, I burned more calories during the half hour than the machine typically estimated. BONUS!
I also got my PUR water pitcher, which has surprisingly made the local New Jersey water completely drinkable... and I daresay, enjoyable! This will be instrumental (I've always wanted to call something instrumental) in upping my water intake, which has been SERIOUSLY lacking.
As for my biking pursuits... it's going beautifully. I find the route to work to be both safe and a great combination of uphill/downhill. My heart rate remains in the high end of my target zone for the entire ride. How cool is it that I can burn over 500 calories just doing something that I have to do regardless... going to and from work? Pretty darn cool, I say. It also makes me feel more independent when I'm fueling the trip with energy from my own body, not from a gas pump. So far this week I've burned over 4,000 calories and I feel like it as almost effortless!
Anyway, I'm sure you're sick of hearing about the love I have for my bike. I'll try to cut back on the gushing, and I assure you, we've already begun planning our wedding. By popular demand, I will leave you with a photo of me in my goofy helmet, taken when I was getting ready to ride. It's all the more goofy with my sunglasses on!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
