Running Journal 6/6/2010 (6 miles)

Sunday, June 06, 2010

Ya, I can run faster but I choose to ~ Train to race...not race to train~

Today's stats:

Late morning
Sunny 73 degrees
wind W 13 G 21 MPH
62% humidity
59 degrees dewpoint

Time 1:18:31 (4/:45 intervals)
13:04 av pace
502 cals burned
151 av bpm HR
183 max bpm HR (DANG IT)

Splits:
1) 1:30 (159 bpm)
2) 13:27 (149 bpm)
3) 13:17 (150 bpm)
4) 13:32 (151 bpm)
5) 13:17 (145 bpm)
6) 12:24 (151 bpm)

Dang it!! I did not want to put so much exuberance into this run! Note to self...slow down next time. It was also about an hour or two later than what I intended to run but we got home late last night and I did not wake up until 8am and blah blah blah LOL.

We had bigtime storms in the midwest yesterday and it cleared out all of the humidy so as you can see with the weather conditions, it was easier to run and THAT is why I felt more energetic. Ya, lets go with that and blame Mother Nature on my faster run LOL. This just backs up my thoughts now that I want to run early in the morning. I still can't think of a reason why its a bad thing for me.

My plan is to run tomorrow morning for about 4 miles because Tuesday morning there is a good chance of rain. I don't do rain if I can't help it. Then there will be no more running until Thursday at my first HM training session (getting nervous).

Until then...

Toodles!

I see you made noises about your max HR. A better expression of fitness is the difference in HR from the second you stop and the HR two min later. Some of the 'boys' at the Tour de France get up there regularly, so don't 'DANG IT' - I did a 5k for charity this morning - and then ran home to make it a 10 miler.

Don't be nervous; you'll be fine. Remember that everyone is there for the same goal; reaching the finish line.

I am always so impressed with your running journal. You keep such great records.

I am lucky if, 1o minutes after my run, I remember how far I ran and how long it took me in total! emoticon

I keep a log...but mine looks something like this:

    "Time: 83:00
    Distance: 5.7 mi

    R79
    W4"

    THE END emoticon

I am jealous too!! The weather is crap here and I do not want to climb on the treadmill emoticon Its low 50's, windy and rainy. Im certainly not qualified to hand out advice, but I agree with Catherine...maybe that extra 15 sec will be enough. emoticon

A longer walk interval (1 minute) and maybe even a shorter run interval as well might help you slow down. I did 2/1's today. They definitely helped with the heart rate.
