I am reading my Beck Advantages Response Cards, but rather than blast through all 40 cards in 3 minutes, I'm reading one per day and really spending some time with it. If the card no longer fits, I'm going to discard it. If it is still valid, it deserves some quality time.
Today's card came from the Beck Diet Solution workbook:
Can't Have It Both Ways
"I can be loose with my eating
I can be thinnner.
I can't be both."
This thought resonates with me. I respond to the "tough love" approach. I need to be constantly reminded of the ULTIMATE goal, not what I want this second! I don't do well when people sympathize with my excuses and/or reasons because I interpret that as acceptance.
I actually made it through the weekend without any slips. That's been a pretty rare experience in the last few months. As a result, I am excited to weigh in tomorrow. I had a healthy week with good food and some strenuous exercise. If it doesn't come off this week, it will come off next week.
