Half Marathon Training Week Five (7/6/2010) 3 Easy miles

Tuesday, July 06, 2010

Ya, I can run faster but I choose to ~TRAIN TO RACE NOT RACE TO TRAIN~

Today's stats:

Morning
74 degrees
wind SW 8 MPH
91% humidity
71F dewpoint (ack for being 5am)

Plan:
3 mile Easy Run
13:29 ap

Actual:
Time 39:13
13:04 AP
238 cals burned
152 av bpm HR
170 max bpm HR

Splits:
1) 12:49 (168)
2) 12:54 (141
3) 13:29 (146)

Shoe mileage: 261 miles

Today was such an easy peasey run even though it was like 1000% humidity. I did not stop once and that is getting easier and easier. My Gymboss is starting to feel ignored although it will be a long time before I can run straight through past 4 miles but it will come. I will always use my interval running for long endurance races though. Its just a smart thing to do for me as I am in my early 50's and I don't wish to get a running injury. I would not be happy.

Today is supposed to be the opening for 2011 Disney Princess Half Marathon registration and as of a few minutes ago it was not available yet. As soon as it is...I am on it! Even though I have not run my first HM yet, I am so confident that I will finish it that I am willing to plunk down the $$$ for the Princess HM. I am THAT determined, folks!

Feeling happy, sassy and STRONG!

My next run will be speedwork at the track Thursday and Kelley did not disclose what we will be doing. I am scared LOL. I will be going my running ST tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.

Until then...

Toodles!

ugh, this humidity is insane! Funny you should post about the intervals, I feel the very same way. I plan to mostly do 5ks this summer and Id like to not do intervals, anything longer I will. Great Job!!

Wow, so a week ago you were getting attitude about the Quad Cities Half, and today you are making Disney reservations. I guess you turned that one around quickly.

    Registration is NOW OPEN!!!
Didya take the plunge??? Woooohoooooooo! This is so exciting! I hope that I'll be able to follow suit in a couple of months, once I know what my client is doing with their project over that weekend! (Grrrrr...Disney, did I mention that I'm still mad at them for moving the date to earlier??)

Sounds like you did great with your run. I have to admit that there's some sense of accomplishment I get from running a certain amount of miles without stopping. But ESPECIALLY in summer heat I still kinda like my walk breaks because they give me a chance to drink water without sloshing it all over myself! Good luck with your speedwork on Thursday!
