Hardware Ranch Take Two!!! WOO HOO!!!!!

Monday, July 12, 2010

I had a great weekend! My biggest accomplishment to date on my bike has been riding back to Hardware Ranch. It's only a 40 mile ride, but that is how I started my biking journey. I have avoided doing that ride again for a long time because of the way the first ride made me feel. (Legs like jiggly lead, body aches all over for a couple of days, dehydrated and just plain physically and emotionally exhausted!) I am so proud of myself, you have no idea!!!!! Saturday Chris and I made the journey back to Hardware Ranch. Amazingly enough, it wasn't that hard. NOTHING like the first time I rode it. I can see the growth in my ability to ride and take care of my body during a ride. We climbed over 1,000 feet and coming down was a blast!!!! My husband is right...the downhill makes the climb worth it! It's actually a FUN ride!!!!

Just wanted to share my Woo Hoo moment! Here's a picture at the top.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your Woo Hoo moments!!!!

That is such great cycling news!
It's such a wonderful feeling to have some kind of noticeable "measurement" when you make progress.

Excuse me??? Did you say it's "ONLY" 40 miles??? You are fabulous!!! What an amazing thing to do. I live on Long Island, NY and at Jones Beach there is a water tower that all of us locals call "The Pencil". You can ride your bike (or roller skate or walk) all the way down the Wantagh Parkway bike path from Merrick Road to The Pencil and back again. When I was in my teens, a bunch of us gals (and we were skinny) rode down to The Pencil and I had stop at the beach board walk for an hour because I couldn't face going back. (I wanted to call a family member to come pick me up in their car!!! LOL) So we ate hot dogs and drank soda and had ice cream and then rode back to Merrick Road and went in my friend's pool. I never wanted to ride a bike again!!! hahahahaha

Soooooo, my hat is off t you for this fantastic accomplishment.

You amazing woman! Forty miles and no aches and pains. Have to say my own "spiritual rides and highs are getting longer and higher. I just might "lift off" any time now. LOL Glad you can do so well with your weight loss goals by exercising as well as eating right. You may just pass my turtle pace at physical weight loss. That's ok because you are my inspiration to never give up in any regard.

How completely thrilling to go back and do something that felt so hard the first time around and is now a FUN ride!! Yay to you for having the courage to do it again. Double yay for coming so far that you could feel the thrill of that downhill after climbing the uphill. Yay to you for being able to appreciate your accomplishments so well!
