Half Marathon Training Week Eight (7/30/2010) Easy 4 mile Recovery Run

Friday, July 30, 2010

Ya, I can run faster but I choose to ~TRAIN TO RACE NOT RACE TO TRAIN~

Today's stats:

Early afternoon
Cloudy skies
73 degrees
79% humidity
wind S 4 mph
66F dewpoint

Plan:
Easy Recovery 4 miles @13:29

Actual:
Easy Recovery 3 miles @ 12:39 ap
Time 37:55
269 calories burned
149 av bpm HR

Splits:
1) 12:54 (165)
2) 12:33 (145)
3) 12:30 (138)

Shoe mileage: 332 miles

I needed this easy recovery run badly and since my mileage is a little more than the actual plan I decided to back it off a mile and make it just 3 miles. My legs did indeed feel better as I ran and that is a good thing. We are having a community-wide garage sale weekend so I was dodging active garage sale participants and they have tunnel vision when it comes to anything but garage sales. I was successful in making it through my run without incident LOL.

I don't run now until Sunday morning and that will be just 5 miles as that is the excent of my long run since it is cutback week. Next week, things ramp back up and I will have a 10 mile LSD a week from Sunday. this shouldn't be a problem as I have done that distance twice before. For now, I shall enjoy my little break.

Until next time...

Toodles!

watch those old women. they will run slap over ya!

my plan doesn't offer cutback weeks and i've changed it up a bit. how often does you LR cut back? i had written down every 3rd week as a cutback. is that too often, you think?

You're doing great! -- Ready to ramp it up next week with your fresh, new targets! Glad you weren't tempted to stop and buy something during your run.
