Change - better or worse???

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

Changing the path of your life is not always an easy decision to make. We choose to make the decision to change based on an experience we've endured, and most of the time, it was an experience we are hoping not to relive. Change can be very difficult for people to take a chance on for more than one reason - its letting go of the familiar, entering uncharted waters. We seem to get too comfortable, too used to the circumstances we are in, too set in our ways, to change. We think, whether the situation we find ourselves in is a negative one or not, its harder to change than to suck it up and deal with the hand you are dealt. We have to realize that its more worth the chance you take then to live unhappily. You can live your life and create a new one to conform to the way you want it to be, but never lose sight of yourself. That is definately easier said than done. I'm very much a control freak, and one thing I have battled with learning is the simple process of "letting go." WAY EASIER SAID THAN DONE! But if you can let go little by little and realize that sometimes change is for the better, you will become a better person for it. Everyone changes to some degree in our lives. We all make mistakes - but learning from those mistakes is what makes us better people. I heard someone tell me once...if you don't make mistakes, how will you ever know what you are doing right?

It can be a very scary thing taking on a new path in your life. But sometimes you have to grab the bull by the horns and just do it. Surround yourself with the people who love you - they can prove to be your greatest strength at your weakest moments - lean on them! That is what they are there for and they wouldn't expect anything less from you!

What seems like unfamiliar territory now may turn out to be the best thing for us in the long run...so take a deep breath - remind yourself that you can do this. Take one day at a time and remember - the first steps in a new direction are always the scariest. But that is what makes your life so worthwhile!

Change is not good or bad--it is just different. The point of this statement is that change is what you make of it. Sometimes a change seems to us to be a very bad thing and in the course of time we find that it was one of the best things that ever happened to us. Embrace change no matter if it is something you have chosen or something imposed on you. It is, it exists now, and all you can really do is make the very best of it. It isn't really all that scary and the more you accept change in your life the easier it is to deal with change.

Something once told me that the only way to learn how to make decisions, is to make decisions. The only way to get over feeling change is scary, is to make changes. Just like anything in life, learning can be difficult but once you learn it, it become easy.

Yes, change is very scary and so much easier said than done [most things are...].

What an insightful blog. I hope you are giving yourself the best you can - everything will fall into place eventually. Quite frankly, I need a break from change sometimes - it can be exhausting for me if I don't take time to reflect.

Good luck. You are marvelous. XO
