#392: Unexpected Blessings

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Sometimes we receive blessings from unexpected sources. I have received three this week. I won't go into personal details but will say that without the help offered me, I would have likely fallen into a pit of depression feeling I had no where else to turn to get me out of several difficulties.

What is most inspiring is that all of the help has come from either strangers or a casual friend whose help I never would have expected. That they would reach out to me brings tears to my eyes.

Most of us try to lead lives where we respect and encourage others and try to keep an upbeat attitude, looking for the positives in all situations. I know the importance of lifting up others with deeds and words and many of you have shared with me your kind comments on my efforts here on SP for which I am appreciative.

Until this week, though, life this year has been a downward spiral that has slowly drained me of energy and hope. But that has been restored, even if nothing else good happens, for now, being on the receiving end of other's goodness, lets me know that there is hope and that if we keep believing there is a grand plan for our lives that the proper people to help us will be brought to us.

Never underestimate how much your efforts to help someone will benefit them. You may not think what help you offer is of great importance but trust that the ripple you begin will expand and expand and have positive consequences far beyond what you do or say. And the person you reach out to will be forever grateful. I am.

I love those unexpected blessings! God always seems to know when to send them. I always seem to get them when I am most discouraged, which helps to pull me out of that hole you feel like you fell in! I'm so glad you were blessed this week, Lou! Praise God! emoticon

This reminds me of Hebrews 13:2
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
I pray God continues to bless you!!!

    Dear friend,

I'm so glad to hear that you received blessings and help. I believe that God always hears our prayers, it seems that we don't always hear his answers.

I hope the rest of the year is better for you.

Lou, I'm sorry this hasn't been a great year for you, but I'm so happy that God lead three people to help you. You're exactly right, we never know just how much good our simple comment or gesture will do, so we should just keep on doing/saying them!

Lou, I am glad Jesus touched you through the kindness and love of others to meet your needs and be a blessing to you.

I especially liked the last paragraph. What a great word picture and gentle admonishment!

I'm sure the ripples are already touching others and making a difference. emoticon

I am rejoicing with you in the blessings you have received today! We never know what our words and actions will do. I know that you bless SO MANY people with your many talents and your giving heart. Your blogs are one example. In many of those blogs I have read about blessings YOU have given others; holding open a door for someone, offering kind words to a server in a restaurant, and countless charitable events you volunteer at. I know that God sees each and every one of the things you do, and that He knows your needs and concerns. I am so glad you received blessings in return this week! You definitely deserve them!

    God bless you!

Oh, Lou, I'm not even going to read the other comments because I already know what they're probably saying, and so if I repeat anything you can know up front that it was from my own heart! YOU are PRECIOUS! I know how you have struggled to maintain hope, joy, faith and peace by lifting others up each and every single day! I have witnessed it so many times! How HAPPY I am that someone who could make a difference for you came through and were Jesus to you! I am so very glad to call you my friend, and my Sparkbrother. You, my friend, are priceless! emoticon

p.s. Ha! I didn't know I was only the 2nd one to comment! You must have just posted it! Yay, now they can top mine! emoticon
