I am having trouble realizing that I am losing weight with all the hours clocked in at the gym over the past month and a half and its really been eating at me that the scale is not moving. I do notice that there is a difference in my clothing. I have gone down a whole size and maybe a little more! But I also want to see it in the scale and that is not showing. The first half of the year was fine, I lost 25 lbs mostly by cutting what i eat rather than the working out. Thats really started in the past month and a half and will continue as long as I don't get discouraged again like 3 years ago... I think what helped me realize my success was doing a photoshop comparison last night of what I looked like 3 years ago to what I look like today. That right there made me realize that what I am doing is working even if i dont see the scale dipping as quickly as I want it too.

WOW! Nothing like a picture to tell a story. You look great. I understand about the scale moving slowly. Don't get discouraged...think of it as just more time to practice the changes you are making to be healthy.

I think we obsess about the scale too much. my scale is not going in thr right direction either, but all my other numbers are good: blood pressure, choleterol, pulse and blood sugar.
I am also fit enough to do the physcial everyday chores.
so i am having success to having a healthy lifestyle. I try not to let the scale run my life.

your pictures look like two diffrent people. Scales are easy to make frenemies with because they don't lie, are blunt and tell you instantly. when they don't say what you like though they get rather discouraging. I think clothes and pictures make a BIG diffrence! good for you for realizing it!

I think you are doing great. Forget the scale for a while and work on non-weight goals for the time being. Let weight loss be a side effect of all the other good things you are doing. Keep on moving gal because you look terrific, and let no one tell you different, not even the scale.

Weightloss is neither linear, or fair. Especially when you choose to be fit by working out.

You are definately on the right track. You are getting smaller. Working out hard (particularly with weights) will change your shape. You end up with a better you, rather than just a smaller version of what you used to be. This is important.

You keep on logging those hours and making good choices. You are on the right path!

Some people get overly obsessed about numbers on the scale. If you are happy with the way you look and feel, and you feel like you are improving your fitness and strength, then continue doing what you are doing.
    When I was 17-20 I worked out on a home gym everyday. I was ripped,lol and wore a size 11. I weighed 175 then.
Scales can be so depressing, but take a look at how your clothes fit and comparing pictures can save the day.
    You look great. emoticon

Wow, you look amazing! Don't let the scale fool you. I too have the same problem but I look at how I can take my pants on and off without even undoing the button! That's how I know I've lost weight, even if it's not WEIGHT, but inches. :) Good job, keep it up!

I have been at this about a month and I too have not seen movement from the scale. It gets discouraging because I want to see numbers dropping off that scale. Aughhhhh! I could just scream. All I need to see is 10lbs, 5lbs, I'll take 2lbs anything!!!!!! emoticon

You look great!!!! I would definitely suggest to use your clothing as a guide... I too fall victim to wanting to see the numbers on the scale drop but this weekend I was able to fit into a couple of pairs of pants that i haven't been able to fit in a while....that is the greatest joy for me.....I measure my inches and you'd be surprised at the accuracy you'll get from inches vs the scale....you can drink a glass of water and "gain" weight but the inches will give you a clear idea of where you are losing as well as your clothing.... I am actually going to buy me a pair of pants in a size 12 and concentrate on getting in to those and then buy a size 9 and so forth....Good Luck on your journey emoticon

emoticon You look great. I have had the same problem with the scale too. I notice a difference around my waist and arms so I'm holding on to that.

Agreed. I too want to give up the scale, but I know if I do I won't be on top of this weight loss thing. Feeling the difference in clothing is a huge step! Be encouraged to know something is happening! You pictures speak 1000 words! Keep going and stay motivated!

I cannot tell you how many times I've wanted to just fling that scale out the bathroom window.

I know it's hard, and frustrating, but the scale is just a tool, and only one of many indicators of success. There's the tape measure - as scary as that little baby can be, it's often more telling.

And, of course, how your clothes fit ... or don't fit anymore!

But, OMG! LOOK IN THE MIRROR!

Amazing job! I find myself getting frustrated by the scale. In the beginning I let it get me down but not anymore. I finally was able to get into a size of pants I haven't worn in forever. It is a really good feeling to see the scale always doesn't show us the entire picture! Keep up the fantastic work!!

I hear you, when I started exercising the scale stopped moving, but I could see positive changes in how I felt and looked and continued on, it paid off! Last week the scale dropped 5 lbs!!!! Hang in there it will happen for you too!

It can get extremely frustrating when the scale doesn't move like that. I think what happens you are toning and losing more inces then anything. It's ok to lose inches too. Don't give up!! Keep doing what you're doing. I'm dealing with the same thing myself now. It'll come off when you least expect it. emoticon emoticon

I was really frustrated, too, when my scale refused to move! My wonderful husband kept telling me, "Honey, you are losing weight!" He would point at the clothes I couldn't wear because they were too big and the changes in my measurements, but that darn scale wouldn't MOVE! Unfortunately, I had been working under the the life-long hypothesis that if the scale didn't move, I wasn't losing weight! Because of SparkPeople and feeling good from working out, I stuck with it - Thank Goodness! The scale finally moved! and once it started. . . . I just hit my goal weight for the first time last week. I know from my experience with SP that it will take a week or so to maintain it, but I DID IT! Congratulations for your commitment to yourself. Keep up the good work and your scale will move too - I promise!!! emoticon
