Prayers Needed...Tragic accident involving my daughter's friend

Sunday, August 29, 2010

Please pray for these people. Maddie was one of my daughter's friends. An unfortunate accident, but I wanted to put the article here as a reminder of the importance of following traffic laws. Maybe this still would have happened... maybe it was just Maddie's time to go home. She will be missed terribly. Thanks so much for the prayers. They are much needed and appreciated.

A 15-year-old girl is dead as the result of a car accident that happened around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

Utah Highway Patrol officials say the driver of an Oldsmobile Alero, which was carrying 4 other passengers, ran a stop sign at the intersection of SR13 and 8000 North in Elwood, UT, colliding with a Chevy truck driven by 69-year-old Richard Rock. The driver of the Alero was hospitalized for injuries, and released later that day, but 15-year-old passenger Madison Kimball was pronounced dead when she arrived at Bear River Valley Hospital. Two additional passengers -18-year-old Celena Yeates and 16-year-old Mckenzie Christoffersen - are in critical condition at Salt Lake-area hospitals. 17-year-old passenger Trevor Madson is also at a hospital with serious injuries

None of the Alero's occupants were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the truck, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a hospital with injuries and released later that day.

My prayers will certainly include all of those involved. It's so sad when young people are involved in accidents and lose a life. My sons best friend died in a car crash at the age of 16 and it was horrible. My son was in the car and he walked away because he was wearing a seat belt.

My prayers are with you all.

My heart goes out to this family. Sadly, my family has experienced the same loss. Two years ago, my daughter's friend also died in a car accident due to someone not seeing her pull out onto the road when there was road construction. Between this tragedy and my 2 accidents my daughter has no desire to get a license. She is 18 now and on her way to college and does not even want a learner's permit. I am just going to wait until she is ready, here in S. Florida there are so many people killed or seriously injured on our roads, between the old people who should not be driving, to the young people who think they are invincible.
prayers go out to all.... emoticon

So sorry for your daughter's loss :(( That driver will have to live the rest of his life with the consequences of his reckless driving, such an unnecessary tragedy. I hope the survivors recover fully. Seat belt use is the law in my province, but long before that, our mother always made sure we were belted in before she would drive, fortunately, those good habits have been passed down to the next generations and all of my relatives automatically use them..

It is so sad that most kids think they are immortal and they won't get hurt or die from choices they make. I'm parying for the living that will be dealing with the driver's actions, and the drive too. All those families are hyrting right now.
    May God help them aLL.

It is tragic when anyone loses their life, but it seems extra sad when it is taken from someone so young. I'm sorry for you're daughter's loss, and will pray that this tragedy doesn't overly traumatize the others who survived.

Oh, this tragic! I hate it when youngsters with everything to live for get snatched away from life! Seatbelts - how many times do we tell our kids and loved ones to wear them? I pray the other children will recover soon. Hugs to your daughter, she must be in terrible shock.
