There's no place like (my new) home

It is so beautiful here. Years ago I couldn't imagine living anywhere but Kansas, and now I can't imagine moving back. I don't know if I'll ever get used to August meaning below 80* weather, or to mountain views out nearly all our windows, but I am so much happier here.
Now to be honest, there are a few things I don't like. Such as the (very busy) train tracks across the street from our apartment. It makes me very happy we have a DVR since you can't hear tv over the trains. We normally keep the volume between 10-20, but we'd have to have it at about 40 to hear anything over a train. There are plenty of trains in Kansas, and I've lived next to them, but for some reason I don't remember them being this loud.
I absolutely hate my kitchen. Center of the apartment, tiny, no windows (although there is a north facing sliding glass door in the next room), very dark, with purplish-brown paint, ugly cabinets, and it's completely closed off from every room but the laundry/dining area.
There aren't a lot of kids in the neighborhood, and the ones that are here are all younger than Adryan. He's finally started to get past the "girls are scary" phase and has started playing with the kids who were staying next door. The oldest is a girl and the two younger kids are boys. I'm guessing their ages are around 8, 6, and 2. I think they went back to their father's yesterday so now Adryan's stuck without anyone to play with.
So basically I love the area, but I'm not all that fond of where we're living. Oh well...one of these days we'll move. In the meantime, DH & I are watching lots of shows on HGTV. I more or less have my dream kitchen planned out and we're learning what to look out for when we move.
