Day 2....

Thursday, September 02, 2010

It is so hot and humid here....and I think the humidity is only going to get worse as we head into the weekend and await the arrival of Hurricane Earl....

I had no mojo this morning....I tried to act the part....got up, put on the running clothes, and walked to the bus stop with the big guy...however, I forgot my ipod, and by the time I walked home, I had not ambition....

Got the little guy up, ready to go, stripped all of the linens off of the beds and started the washer....still lacking ambition...even changed out of the running duds....walked the little guy to the bus, came home, switched the laundry, finished my grocery list and next weeks menu and then got the guilts....

If my two guys can go to school in the 90+ heat/humidity - then I can run for a small stretch of time....so I did....

Had some interesting events out there today too...about a mile into my run, I turned a corned and watched 3 coyotes run across the street...it was 9:15 in the morning....what are they doing out and about??? I was so close...probably about a football field away....so I started hemming and hawing (is that how you spell this?) about whether to change routes or keep going....I decided to keep going...after all - they were coyotes, not muggers, they weren't hiding in the woods waiting for the crazy runner....I do have to admit to clapping and singing as I ran that stretch both ways.....

I had intended for a 5 mile run - but that was not happening -- I did 3.75 today and it was slow and hard, but it is done....

The next few days I am going to rest, in preparation for the 5K Labor Day race that hubby has decided to run with me.....he hasn't run in a while, but he is a foot taller than I am, so the difference in leg length does make a difference....but running with him will push me to do well.....

Hey...you did it! It may not have been as far as you wanted to go, but some days are like that. 90 degrees is hot...especially when it is humid. I am still smiling thinking about you clapping and singing running down the street. A girl from my class said that she walked her dog last week and there was a bear in the road...I don't think I want to deal with bears or coyotes!!

3.75 in 90 degree heat plus humidity is AT LEAST equivalent to running 5 on a normal day!!
