JUST A FEW THOUGHTS

I have been wondering how I have arrived at the tender age of 68 and I am still dealing with the issue of being overweight. I was thin most of my life and I started to gain weight at about 55 years of age. When I retired from nursing at 63 then I really added a few more pounds.
I am happy to be a member of Spark People and instead of going full speed ahead have decided to deal with reducing my calories and portion control. I also am working on not having a snack after 8 p.m. The exercise has been sporadic but I have set small goals for myself. The change starts now. I am reminded of the saying "If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got". Why do we always think the outcome will be different if we stay on the same road.
I have been fortunate to "meet" many new friends on SP. I have made it a priority to track my eating and be aware of what I am putting in my mouth. I have had some good suggestions from all of you and have followed through. Next week, I am going to start tracking my exercise and have set a goal of walking 30 mins a day whether at the Y on the treadmill or outside.
I am so thankful for the many blessings that God has given me. He made our bodies so perfect, a work of art and I think it is time I refurbished my work of art.
Thanks to the support I have received here on SP I know I can FINALLY do it. We are travelling on a wonderful journey, anticipating many new discoveries, one of which will be more insight as to who we are and what we contribute to this beautiful world. We need to get up in the morning and welcome a new day and appreciate the wonders we will have that day. Thank you Sparkers for making my days a little better for having found SP.
