Half Marathon Training Week Fifteen (PHOTOS!!!) (9/16/2010) 2 mile Easy Run

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Ya, I can run faster but I choose to ~TRAIN TO RACE NOT RACE TO TRAIN~

Today's stats:

Late afternoon
68 degrees
59% humidity
wind NW 12 mph

Plan:
Easy run 2 miles
12-ish AP

Actual:
Easy run 2 miles
12:00 AP (no intervals)
24:03
199 calories burned
152 av bpm HR

Splits:
1) 11:57 (159)
2) 12:04 (147)

So once again this was pretty much a nekkid run that I attempted to run slow since this was a recovery run from last night. Folks, its becoming more and more difficult to run...slow. Please define slow. My pacing and the ease of running is becoming easier every week. Don't get me wrong, some of my runs are hard but its becoming more difficult to hold the reins back as my legs are wanting to go. Pretty sweet.

Because this would be such a short boring blog entry I am going to sweeten the pot with PHOTOS! I can sense your excitement!! So lets get on with the show!

The first photo is that with all of my standard gizwitchies which are pretty self explanatory:

I cannot tell you how many miles I have run with my beloved Nathan QuikDraw Plus water bottle

Next is the tubette where I keep my long run doodads:

Chocolate Outrage, baby!

Next is my HM training schedule in my handy dandy folder thingy:

This page is where I am now.

This was my first page of my HM training:

All of my chicken scratchin and notes.

Was that not worth visiting my blog? Are you not entertained or what? Will this keep you awake tonight from the excitement? I know, me too.

Thank you for visiting and until next time...

Toodles!

    I'm so excited for you!!!!!!

Would you be interested in some GU? I bought a box awhile ago and I just can't stand it. It is so disgusting. The taste, the texture, everything. I much prefer Sharkies. LOL. It's a variety box of flavors. I'm not sure how many I even have left, but you are welcome to them if you want them - I could mail them. Let me know.

I am pretty sure I'm going to exactly copy your half marathon training regimen this next time around. You have really stuck with it and I know you are going to be extremely successful. :) Good luck!!

How do you like that QuickDraw water bottle? I have a water belt that I use, but have been thinking about getting one that I can carry like yours. I just worry that it will annoy me carrying it on 10+ mile runs. Any tips would be appreciated!

You're more organized than I am! My training schedule is tacked to the wall next to my computer at work, and I cross things off as I think of it. But I do have my race picture mouse pad next to me at all times....

The one thing that really struck me about your photos is how many days are crossed off on your training plan. It seems like two days ago that you started your plan and now we're like what, one week away?! I am so excited for you, and I'm going to be cheering you on from up here in Madtown!

    Gooooooooooo Laurie!!!

fun stuff! your training plan is a lot more detailed than mine. love choco outrage. have you tried the new mandarin orange gu? it is really yummy, too. i also have the blackberry one to still try. i think i'm going to take a few different flavors to my race just to have a variety while i run.

Running slower than normal for me hurts! I always end up going faster.
I'm still working on that as I know when I get up to the 20+ mile runs, going faster will NOT help!

    You're doing awesome!
    Love the pictures!
    Love the log book too!
