Mixing it up

Well this week I changed my routine a little. It was not intentional but it just happened. I normally get on the bike and paddle for at least 30 minutes before the kids get up and then go about my day of watching what I eat, fitting in family time, homework, cooking, cleaning, etc. Well this week I decided to work on my yard. I have been chopping up the back yard manually, laying down a compost/seeding soil mixture and sewing grass seed. I have only managed to get about 1/3 of my back yard done so far. Yesterday morning I was so sore I did not even exercise in the morning but managed to work in my yard again last night for another 1 and a half hours. I pushed myself this morning to tweak out 23 minutes on the bike before rushing my son to the bus stop. When I got on the scale I was pleasantly surprised. I have lost 2.5 pounds so far this week and my official weigh in is not until tomorrow. That is amazing since tom is visiting right now and I am bloated. I know TMI!

What I have come to realize is that when I do the same thing almost every day I lose only a half pound or a pound, on the weeks that I mix it up I have a much larger loss. So I guess sticking to a routine is not the answer. I will have to remember this when I hit a time of no weight loss. I guess a little manual labor never hurt anyone, actually the opposite. The good news is I still have about 2/3 of a back yard left to do so I am hoping to lose a few more pounds out of my hard work.

With results like this I may have to build a garden paradise in the back yard so I stay working. ha ha
