It sure feels like fall today, and an update on my mom

Saturday, September 25, 2010

My mom didn't sleep well last night; had a stiff neck from laying in the ER bed, but her leg is looking a lot better. She said it's not as red and swollen today. Hopefully that means the antibiotics are doing their job.

I haven't been doing much today; had a lot of acid reflux pain this morning, and that doesn't make me feel like doing much of anything. Ate bland foods for breakfast and lunch. Felt a little better in the afternoon. Filled the bird feeders up, seeing some of the birds that aren't usually around during the summer coming back now.

I took a few pictures outside today. This is part of my candy corn vine, wanted to get one last picture of it in case it freezes tonight.

I planted a few cosmos, but they didn't do very well; I don't think they had enough sun where I planted them. I noticed a flower on one today.

Quite a change in the weather; at 1am yesterday morning, it was 81°F; tonight, there is a chance of frost. It's still windy today, not as bad as yesterday, but today it's a cold wind instead of a warm one. I put some of my small potted plants on the porch, mostly the perennials that I want to plant in the ground this fall, (should have done it today, but the shoulder is too sore) and my two hanging baskets of fuschias, and covered them up with a couple of old sheets. The other plants and flowers I'm not going to worry about, as the growing season is just about over here, and most don't look that great after not having enough rain last month.

I have lots of fungi growing in the yard from the damp weather lately; not sure if this is a mushroom or a toadstool, but I thought it looked interesting with the fringe around it.

I got out for a 10 minute walk, even though it was 52°F, and I had a coat and a hat on, the wind went right through me, and I was cold, so I cut it short today.

I got my wig today also that I ordered from Paula Young; I tried it on and I really like it! This is the length I normally wore my hair before it started to thin out from the cancer drugs, and then the chemo. I won't wear it every day, but it will be a nice change from always wearing the hats and scarves. I'm glad the weather is cooling off so that it will be more comfortable to wear.

I wish yourmom continued healing from her bout with cellulitis. A relative of mine had it; I know how miserable it can be! Glad you persisted with her treatment. Your wig looks so natural, and that's a great color on you, too (you've got the complexion for so many different shades of hair). I LOVE the candy-corn vine and had never seen one before! Look at that fringed fungus, too - so many amazing goodies you've grown over the summer months! You never fail to inspire me, Shari - Sandi emoticon

I like the wig! I have to admit that (overall) I just plain like wigs. There is a shop where I often go to wander through and just think "what would it feel like to have all these options - just look at them and think 'I want to look like THAT today'".
