Run For the Cure- DONE!

Monday, October 04, 2010

Well I went into today's run with less expectations on me...I decided to do intervals with my son so that he could do the whole thing WITH me this time...there were so many people and I really didn't want him to feel overwhelmed...

So we paced ourselves, decently I think considering the sheer volume of walkers we had to weave through for pretty much most of the run.

we took a 1 minute walk break after 10 minutes of running, than ran some more, before pulling over for a second to get some water around the half way point...we started up again and I could see he just wanted to GO...so I told him to do what he wanted and I'd see him at the finish line...so off he went on his own and he crossed the finish line before the rest of our team. He finished at 38.32minutes...with about 3 minutes (or less) walking...I am SOOO Proud of him!!!

I slowly continued but met up with my 'survivor' friend, the one that asked me to run, and her daughter....Her daughter is 8 and was started to slow down, so we took a walk break, as I figured I would stick with them for the rest...Quite frankly, by this time I was feeling the effects of yesterday's trail run...so a walk was welcomed about that point....

Did I mention I don't train on trails at all???

I guess I walked a total of 6 minutes when all was said and done...

My total time, including all the walking was 42.16minutes...but I completed it ALIVE...and really...that's all that matters.

I was VERY sore, but I forgave myself for the walking, considering my weekend of torture.

It felt great to be out there with all the adrenaline in the air!!!

And holy crap...the first one in was FAST...there is no way s/he was more than 16 minutes...I thought it was a woman, but I am reading that the first person was a grade 12 student named Nick (male or female?) We all thought it was a woman...but hey...what do I know!!!??? LOL

Anyway...he or she was FAST!!

It's done and I am feeling a lot better about the weekend...considering...

Did I mention I don't train on trails at all???

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT......I'll let it go already!!!

PS: My sisters and parental type units (old folks too!!) participated in the same run in Calgary as walkers...PLANETSPARKY is having lots of knee issues but walked it instead of running...WAY TO GO FAMILY!!!!

The parental units...sent to me from PLANETSPARKY (her Blackberry) I notice she didn't send a pic of herself!!

Later Sparkers!

Wohoo, great times. I was there check-out my blog. I looked for Pink hair and wanted to say hi, did not see you. Cross country runs/trails are hard but with practice can be quite the challenge. Pink Lake when I first started doing it took me 41 minutes, now I make it in 28 minutes or less. Have a great week.

Did Riley steal that tie from a 10 ft tall breast cancer survivor? LOL, funny tie!!
I'm glad you decided to take it easy after the evil trail run you had to do Sat. BTW, I've been reading lately about how run/walk intervals will make you faster. I'm totally buying & it definitely helps me. It's what Jeff Galloway does.

Good for you for sticking to what you could do and having fun with it, rather than running yourself ragged. Congratulations!
