Bootcamp - Day 1
Tuesday, October 05, 2010
I had my first official workout at boot camp this morning. I was surprised that it was actually harder to get up this morning than it was yesterday morning. I think yesterday I was so paranoid I would oversleep that I wasn't sleeping very hard. This morning however, I was in a dead sleep when my alarm went off. It will get easier to get out of bed, right?
Today was cardio day. First we stood in two different groups and did interval exercises for 30 seconds each: jumping over lines, plank up and downs, mountain climbers.... there were 12 different interval exercises. We did the series of 12 twice. My heart was already racing and we were only 15 minutes into boot camp.
Then we got into groups and did relay races with squat jumps, bear crawl, jumping jacks and then bear crawled backwards with a kettlebell in hand. My team won :)
Then we headed outside. It is now about 5:30 am and COLD! We did a few basketball-style drills (read: running and shuffling).
Lastly, we ran around the building 3 times. This was the best part: I wasn't the 'slow one'! I bet most of these girls are 10 years younger than me and I was ahead of them! Some of them walked a lap, but I finished all three jogging! I was so proud!
Tomorrow is our first strength training day. I was looking through the camp's fan page on facebook and noticed several comments of people being sore (I saw a post where a girl was complaining it took 6 minutes to get her pants on... ), so I am a little nervous but excited.
Yesterday I was dead tired by 7:00. Hopefully I can make it a little later tonight, otherwise the point of exercising in the morning to give me more time in the evenings is pretty mute. If I am too tired in the evening to do anything at all then it doesn't make sense to get up earlier. Hopefully just like getting up early, by body will adjust to the evenings. Time will tell.
Have a great day everyone!
