Bootcamp - Days 2 and 3

Day 2 of bootcamp was my first real strength training day. We had 10 strength circuit stations set up and did each circuit for 40 seconds. We went around the all the stations 3 times. I really enjoyed this workout - it went fast!

Day 3 (today) was another cardio day. Again he set up different stations and we just rotated around the room. All the stations were pretty intense - jumping, walking lunges, weighted rope waves.

I am surprised I have not really been sore this week. I have my normal "I am too old to be exercising with 20 year olds" soreness - back, knees; but not any major muscle soreness - glutes, thighs, arms. I know that any exercise routine like this is only what you put into it - so am I not working hard enough? Honestly, I am not sure I can work much harder at 5 am.

One of the younger ladies has friended me at bootcamp. She has been a great motivator - she keeps telling me to push through it and cheers me on. She is also in really good shape: we did a timed plank challenge and she had the longest time in our class - 3.5 minutes.

I have been tracking my food and keeping the calories between 1400 and 1600. I am being careful about only putting good food into my body - good proteins, veggies, lots of fiber; but man, have I been hungry this week. Hopefully my body will get used to it soon. I am a little concerned about the weekend - we have another big tailgate on Saturday. I have been doing so good this week - I don't want to waste it all on an afternoon full of beer and brats (my stomach just growled again... )

One more early morning this week! I can't wait until Saturday and Sunday where I can sleep in until 7:00 or so. That will be amazing :).

    Whatever happened to the rest of bootcamp ? Part of me wants to do one, but they're too expensive here in NY. Also TOO early ! How did you adjust to getting up and going so early ? Thanks for sharing. I might look into it again !

    Maybe you just need another snack. You're up earlier and probably not going to bed much earlier. So pack another light snack. There's no reason to be grumbly hungry like that. Have a light snack and some water. You're burning more just by being awake!

    With working out that intensely is that ALL the calories you need? I know it should lead to a big weight loss but you need some of those cals to build muscle mass as well. Just a though. Sounds like your boot camp is pretty intense. Do you have a hear rate monitor? I would be interested to see how many cals you burn in an hour of high intensity cardio. Should be a LOT. Maybe the beer and brats wouldn't even touch you. emoticon emoticon

    Very cool about bootcamp. I've been looking for one here, but haven't seen anything yet that fits into my schedule.

    emoticon holding ground with 20-somethings. Doesn't that feel awesome?

    Have you tried the Budweiser 55? My brother in law swears by it as far as keeping the calories down.
