It has been a long time coming but I finally cleaned out my closet. I am going to take all of my big clothes to my mom and sister when I go up for my sister's wedding at the end of the week. Now my bed is piled with clothes and my closet looks nearly empty. I have to say, this is a bitter-sweet goodbye. Some of the clothes I have had since before my kids were born. Some of them were passed down by my mother-in-law when she started losing weight due to cancer. She passed away nearly 8 years ago and getting rid of the clothes is difficult but needs to be done. It feels good though.
While digging through my closet I found a suede coat I bought the winter of 1996. It was my first year of college and I did not want to wear my high school jacket so Scott and I splurged on a nice coat. I wore it that one winter and by the next winter it would not zip. I wore it the next winter but it had to be left open so I usually swiped one of Scott's jackets instead. Guess what? It fits!
I stood in front of the mirror with a pair of my size 24 slacks I bought two years ago when I started working at CASA. It was like a commercial. They stretched out on either side making me look much smaller. When I put them on, they fall around my hips and threaten to fall off if I move.
I am saying goodbye to everything that has a 2 in front of it. I took out all of my clothes that were larger than an 18. Even my scale read 200.6 this morning! I am hoping in another day or two I will not have a 2 in front of anything.
Goodbye 200's and size 20's; hello 100's and size teens!
