My plans for 40

Sunday, October 10, 2010

I am closing in on 40 and looking forward to it more than I can say. As I begin my last month in my “30s” I have not really stopped to reflect on what I have done in my life, rather I am focused on what I intend to do. I intend for my “40s” to be an AMAZING decade. This will be the time when I focus on living, really enjoying the world around me. My 40s will include:

I will be debt free and living within my means.
I will be healthy, in both mind and body.
I will travel for pleasure and explore the world I live in.
I will cherish all the moments of my days and be grateful for the world around me.
I will love.

In some ways I have been doing these things all along, or at the very least I have been working toward them. Now they will become my focus and my drive; my reason for being.

Bob asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday. He wanted to plan a party, but knew that it might not be right with my schedule and my own plans. We spent a bit of time talking about it and agreed it just does not fit with who I am at this stage in my life. I have decided that instead of a party, I want to celebrate with all of the people I love, one on one. I want to enjoy my family and friends in the manner that best reflects our relationship. Some activities I am considering are playing euchre, scrap booking all day, getting a massage, and going line dancing. I am sure there are many more, I am just starting to plan.

To that end, I am planning my 40th birthday celebration as a marathon and not a sprint. I think it will be 40 days of me enjoying the people and things I love. This will set the stage perfectly for the next 10 years. Will you join me? If so, how should we spend our time together?

Your plan sounds great! Hmmm...maybe I'll begin to make a list of the 40 things I want to do during my birthday month. Or will it be birthday year? Now there's an idea!

Anyway, I hope you have a fabulous time celebrating life and you get to enjoy special times with special people! Life is good, and we need to always remember that!! WE ARE BLESSED!!!

Excellent ideal, 40 days to celebrate your 40th. Often, also at parties lots of people and you do not have a chance to go one on one. Have fun & enjoy !

I do love the idea of celebrating 40 on a daily basis with the specific pleasures of the people involved! My friends do not mix too well - they do suit my different moods though - and this is how I prefer to enjoy my time with them.

40 was great, so was 50 and 60 is certainly nothing to fear!

I've had friends declare a "birthday month" - I love the idea of 40 days for your 40th! I should do that when I hit 50 (which will be in 3 years eek)!
