Changing old habits, in with the new and better

The weather is starting to get colder here in Arizona, which is welcome--the leaves are changing on the trees, and this time of year is the most thrilling for me. The other day I was going for a drive and saw the most vibrant, crimson sugar maple! WOW! It was soooo beautiful. Only Mother Nature! emoticon

With the changing leaves, I'm thinking about changing my habits--some that aren't helpful to living a healthier life. I'm a creative thinker and am a bit spontaneous; but I have to work on developing my planning abilities and procrastinating less(without getting too uptight about it-haha!). I am still trying to figure out a workable time for daily exercise due to the fact I like to sleep in as late as possible, then get ready and run out the door for work! Weekends aren't a problem, because I can exercise whenever I like, and thankfully I don't have to work 7 days a week.

Lately my focus has been on eating more whole foods, and I have more energy as a result! HOORAY! I have been integrating eggs into a breakfast sandwich with veggie sausage and cheese, and that has been keeping me full, which is a blessing, really.

Last week I cooked spaghetti squash for the first time, and man was it tasty! Who knew?

The holidays are coming up, and everyone is busy planning! Most recently I have been trying to figure out a holiday budget ; there's a great holiday meal plan in the November issue of Prevention magazine. Being so food focused around this time of year is hard to avoid! But I think my mantra will be quality, not quantity! Yams! Brussel sprouts! Salad! Nuts! Fish!

Isn't it great that we have Sparkpeople to help us through this season that can lead to overindulgence! I am so thankful!

    Crimson is my favourite colour for tree leaves!

    The time that seems to work best for me regarding my fitness routine is the end of the day. The 'pro' is I have the time, the 'con' is I can be tired - though usually I simply start and then I find my body has the energy to see me through after all.

    Sounds like you have a good and yummy healthy eating plan - enjoy your thanksgiving - there's so very much for which to be thankful. (FYI - in Canada we've had ours already).

    The Autumn is a beautiful time in southern areas of the USA. But it is always a challenge. In the cool part of the year it is better to exercise in the middle part of the day. In the summer it is at dusk or dawn or else it is doom.

    The holiday season is better for me with the KISS Holidays in the Dr. Oz Show Fans, etc.
