Normally, I try to relate something I hope will inspire and encourage readers to aim high and never give up on their effort to lose weight and get in shape, with an occasional detour into a childhood memory or a peek into my life

.
Today was not a particularly memorable day but was a nearly perfect one even though I spent much of it doing what would not be considered fun. But sometimes we need to relax and simply enjoy what our days offer us. To do otherwise is to rob ourselves of peaceful pleasures.
I had the washing machine repaired and then enjoyed a nice conversation with the repairman who has been to the house before for the washer and dryer. We talked politics, the stock market, inventions, the weather and our dreams of our futures.
The weather was the kind that urges you outside

. The dogs

appreciated having me in the back yard with them as they ran and played and I relaxed, watching their playful antics.
As posted on the friend feed, I got into a cleaning frenzy and hit places such as ceiling fans, tops of door jambs and cabinet tops, windows and window sills and other out of the way places that visitors would not likely see but which makes you feel smug after they're cleaned.
In between was, of course, two loads of laundry, drying and folding and putting away clothes, washing dishes, cleaning counter tops and a myriad of other insignificant chores.
I watched a couple of college football games

while catching up SP blogs and profile pages

while the open windows drew a soft breeze inside to help air out the house

.
Once inside, the dogs fell asleep as did the cats

and, except for the low volume of the games, it was delightfully quiet.
Now, off to give the pet babies their nightly treats, read for a while, listen to soft music

and give thanks for being blessed with such a pleasant day.
No, not an exciting day, but one that was completely, totally peaceful and relaxing that helped restore my physical and mental energy.
So, no great words of inspiration today, merely a suggestion that we not overload ourselves with so many activities that we forget to slow down and enjoy what our days offer. Our bodies and our minds will thank us for it.
Wishing you a restful evening.
