short on time

I've started exercising more, and Christmas is coming up quickly, which means time spent researching gifts and price shopping, so it seems I don't have a lot of time to post blogs. Plus, I'm trying to cook my meals more instead of buying out so often. I watch what I eat when I buy out, but I still seem to lose better when I eat home-cooked food. So that too sucks up time. The good part though, is that because I'm home by myself most of the time most recipes provide several lunches/dinners.

I did Zumba at home on Thursday evening (Monty's blog inspired me!). I had signed up at a local dance studio for a Zumba class that was to start on Thursday, and was ready to head out from work, and started to wonder if my shoulder would be OK. I thought, "What if I pay the $50 and then my shoulder can't do it? I should have tried it at home before now." Then I thought, "WHAT AM I SAYING? Why am I going to pay $50? Just go home and do it right now, you've already set aside the time." So I did. And shortly into my workout, hubby called. An hour conversation, which included catching up on all our Veteran friends he had called that day. Which reminded me I hadn't yet called my dad to thank him for his service. So, after I hung up with hubby I called my dad. Another hour and a half conversation. So I got off the phone and there I was at almost 9:00 pm. I wondered if I should exercise that late, but decided there was no way I was NOT going to get that workout in. So I started over, and Zumba'd for an hour. It was so great!! The shoulder is not up to everything, but I could do most things about halfway with that arm. YEAAA!! I Zumba'd again this morning - I did the 50 minute Fitness Live workout AND the 20 minute Flat Abs workout. Love it, love it, love it. I may sign up for a local class anyway, because it seems like it would be so much fun to do with other people.

I bought a wake-up light this weekend (an early Christmas present from me to me, aren't I terrible) and used it for the first time this morning. It really worked as it says it will. I hope this will help keep my winter doldrums at bay. I'm looking into one of those full spectrum lights to perhaps set on my desk at work.

I am happy to be still losing about a pound a week. I know SP said that I'd lost 3 pounds, but I don't know why it said that. Maybe it waits until you've lost 2 or more to send out a notice? I don't know. Anyway, the latest stats on weight loss -
1. I have now lost 20.6 pounds. Yea! 20 pounds!
2. I passed the halfway mark of my "Overweight" BMI range. When I started losing weight this past summer, I was about 8 pounds into the Obese range. I celebrated when I became "just" Overweight. Now I am halfway to Normal. Woo Hoo! And,
3. I am now 1.4 pounds away from the halfway mark of my overall weight loss goal - double Woo Hoo!!
I used to always want to lose at least 2 pounds a week, but ended up starving myself to do that, and then of course would binge. This time it is so much better. I am averaging about a pound a week. I am not starving myself. I am satisfied. I can choose to indulge a craving if I want to, and not feel like the world has ended. Another good thing - because I am in my 40's, I do worry about my skin staying "snug" and not getty droopy as I lose weight. I think because I am losing slowly, my skin has time to slowly adjust. That and water, water, water. So far, I've avoided turkey-neck. Bonus!

OK, now I'm off to cleaning up the kitchen and getting ready for work tomorrow. Have a great night, all!

    Great blog
    So you did some Zumba, I never saw a DVD with zumba and I am sure it is a great way of doing it. I am glad I can go to classes, I get caught up in the energy of all those around me.
    Until, you make up your mind about a class, continue at home.
    You mentioned you feel short on time, I would suggest that you try to make sure you don't get stressed from it, stay as calm as you can.
    I feel if you continue to release a pound every week, that it is fantastic. You are doing great, just keep doing what you are doing.
