Pregnant Overweight and feeling blah

Saturday, November 20, 2010

I will be 27 weeks pregnant tomorrow. My weight is the same which at the Dr.'s it said 216. [so a lil less than what I weighed here at home]. But still trying to remain positive. I am so thankful for the life growing inside of me. But at the same time I'm swollen, my back aches, my clothes don't fit- I mean i really have barely anything to wear. And its hard to feel feminine if you can believe that because being pregnant is one of the most amazing things a woman can go through but I just don't feel very pretty feel sick and bloated and thats not attractive. lol But like I said carrying a beautiful baby girl inside me is amazing an I love all the little kicks and movements and going to the Dr to hear her heartbeat. I am so unbelievably thankful. I just wish I knew what I could do to make me feel better. Would be great to get a new outfit, a mani/pedi, facial or massage, get my make-up and hair done the whole works lol but when you have two other kids at home and the hubby is the only one working its just not happening right now. Anyone have and tidbits to what helped them feel more beautiful and sexy when pregnant? Or even ideas from women who are not pregnant? Maybe I am just feeling not so good and having a pity party lol but being overweight AND pregnant is really hard on the body and mind. Once I have my little Sydney - I really plan on getting back on track and losing this weight so I can be healthy for myself and all 3 of my girls and hubby. ♥ thanks for listening to me rant♥♥♥

I can relate to what you are feeling although it's been a while since I've felt pretty at all. I've always been overweight but I was on a good road to losing it when I found out I was pregnant. That was the beginning lol. I have been pregnant for the last 3 years, no joke. This is our last (due December 20th). I had a baby 1/15/09, and 11/16/09. Two in the same year emoticon
Well when Abbey comes I plan on kicking butt, but until then maintaining is all that can be done. Good luck on your journey and congrats on your newest addition!!!!

Thank you ladies so much for your kind words. With my 1st daughter [11 years ago] I was working when I was pregnant and I def dressed up all the time especially since I was working, always had my make up done. So I didn't quite feel as bad but I was also only 19. I'm older now 31 lol so last pregnancy and more so this pregnancy def getting the preggo blues I guess is what you would call it. I always wanted to be little cute and pregnant not ginormous and pregnant lol but it didn't happen that way. So I will make the best out of it and enjoy the pregnancy as much as I can. I love knowing that I am "growing" a baby in there lol :P So I will try to check out some thrift stores and stuff and see if I can find some cute clothes. And def try to get up earlier and take care of me before starting the day with my kiddos. I think that will help a lot bc as it is now it seems like I never have time for me. So just getting that early shower, lotioning myself up, doing my hair and make up and putting something other than over sized pants and tshirt on will prob help me. I'm still going to try and get my nails done sometime but until then hopefully this will help. Thanks again everyone! emoticon

I'm right there with you! I hate feeling frumpy and fat! You may not be able to afford a professional manicure/pedicure, but you can find recipes on the internet for sugar/salt scrubs and you can get nail polish at Walmart for less than $1! Get up a few minutes earlier (I know it's hard, I have three other children, two school age and a toddler AND I'm pregnant), and put on a little makeup and do your hair (I get caught up in the mascara and ponytail only routine, and it makes me feel blah).

Are you exercising (or allowed to exercise)? I find that when I complete a workout, even if it's just a 20 min walk on the treadmill, I feel so much better about myself (it's all those endorphins I think!). Are you drinking enough water and getting enough sleep? Oddly enough, deficiencies in both negatively impact how I feel about myself, so I make sure I drink enough water and go to bed at a decent time.

I am not sure why you feel this way? Did you feel this way with the other kids? Just know that you are thankful to have a husband and kids who love you. While getting your hair done is nice... wouldn't it be better to spend that money doing something with the family? Give yourself some ME time! Take a few minutes just for yourself!

Don't let it get you down-those third trimester hormones are probably kicking. emoticon You and my daughter are almost the same weight-I think she was 215 at her last visit-so I'll tell you like I tell her-don't get crazy over the weight gain--that doesn't mean that you should just let it go, but don't let it stress you either. You'll be able to get the weight off AFTER the baby comes-it will likely come off pretty quickly-especially for you-with two babies under the age of two! emoticon
As for feeling sexy, well, I imagine that your dh already finds you that way, so don't let your own mind tell you otherwise!
I hope you're feeling better about things today-

So sorry you're feeling blah and not your best. Something that always makes me feel better is to light a really yummy scented candle. Surprisingly the dollar store has some really great ones and nice bath products too like sugar scrub, lotions, etc. I think a nice soak in the tub if you have one with bubbles would feel good, and then lotion, and maybe your DH could give you a massage :) Also if you could get someone to watch the girls for you even a short coffee date with your spouse would be nice to get some grown up time!

Thanks so much for the comments. :P I've done "girly makeovers" with my 11yr old Alayna. Sometimes she's into it other times she's not. She's always been a bit of a tomboy but since turning 11 she has gotten into some girlish things. :P So maybe we could do something like that again. My 1 year old would be too young but we could all dress up and take some "glamor shots" lol

It's hard being pregnant back to back I really didn't get a chance to lose weight in between having my last daughter Caroline and getting pregnant with Sydney. Caroline was just 6 months when I got pregnant. lol

Maybe I can get my mom or someone to do my toe nails. :P And she's always loved doing my makeup ever since i was like 5 so maybe I can talk her into doing it for me one day so I will feel a little pampered. :P

Thanks for all the support and advice I really appreciate it. ♥

These are the lst months and, as you probably already know, the hardest. You are tired, and as the baby grows, so do you. If you are feeling icky, that makes it worse. I wish that I knew some really cool tircks but I don't. Remember, swollen could be fluid retention, which will go away! This will be over soon and you will have beautiful Sydney to hold and another eason to get back on track. Hold on and if you get to the end of your robe, tie a knot and hold on longer!

Is there anyone that can take your other two for a whole day and evening? Then you could pamper yourself and make a special dinner for you and your husband. Maybe he is feeling as yucky as you are, especially with just one income and another baby on the way.

    Hi AUDREY28 emoticon ,

WOW!!!! You sure are dealing with many challenges!! How old are your other two daughters?

Maybe you can go to a dollar store and buy some hair accessories and cheap nail polish and let your daughters "Give Mommy A Makeover!!" What fun the 3 of you could have together!! They will be SO PLEASED and they will KNOW "Mommy looks beautiful!!" And, you know what? Mommy probably WILL be beautiful!!!!

I think it's pretty common to feel fat and frustrated the last few weeks of a pregnancy, even though you feel amazed at the same time. It will be over soon and you will have your lovely baby to hold in your arms. Are your going to nurse? That can help you lose weight.
