My December Goals

I am making an honest effort to get onto Spark more frequently, and post stuff on my Spark Team Page (Flying Pig marathon). I plan to run the full marathon in May. However, I'm not signing up until April, because I want to make sure I can do the long runs OK before I do it.

So, here are my goals for December.

1. Week #1 - Do a long run of 5 miles, and add a run so that my total days running is 4. Also, I would like to do the elliptical twice and ride my bike (road bike currently stationary) for a total of 27 miles. At least two or three days with some weight training.

2. Week #2 - Keep my number of runs at 4, but increase the distance for the longest one to 6 miles. Keep everything else the same.

3. Week 3 (which ends on Christmas) Do a long run of 7 miles(estimating total mileage for the week at 17). Keep all other runs the same, and all the other workouts the same. Add two swim workouts and reduce one bike workout.

4. Week 4 (which ends on New Years). Do a long run of 8 miles, increase one of the other runs to 4 miles (total mileage = 19 miles.. Marathon training will start at the end of this week.

Week three and four might sound a little intense, but I am not working during that time so I have a little extra time. If my leg hurts, I will either reduce the number of runs back to three or reduce the distance.

    The swimming should really give you a good balance as the miles increase. Keep us posted as your plan progresses!
