Never Giving Up - Shaking it up with a new exercise regime
Monday, December 27, 2010
Oh man, I`ve been a bit absent the past few months. Short version; work was stressful, I was forced to resign, I`ve been sick like a month with colds and tonsilitus so even running got knocked on the head. Now I am working for myself freelance, I`ve been sitting around the past month eating what ever junk I wanted.
You can imagine the results:
But inspired by a friend, I`ve got a new exercise regime, because my latest boom is....pole dancing
It is a fantastic upper body and core work out, you need incredible strength to hang off a pole with your arms and legs.
I`ve only had my pole for a few weeks, and at first I didn`t think I had the strength in my shoulders or hands to hold my body weight. But I kept practicing and just getting used to hanging off by just my hands and one day it just clicked, and I done the fireman`s spin, the most basic of spins. But I was sooo happy I kept spinning until I got dizzy lol..
But I still need to build strength and flexibilty, so I`m adding yoga sessions to my running off daysAas well as some light weight lifting to build on my shoulder strength. Oh and streching every day to achieve the splits!
My friend (the former pole dancer) has said that 6 months down the line practicing every day I can do something like this:
Uh, we`ll have to see about that
So here`s my advice to those struggling through the festive months: never give up!! Find a new FUN exercise that`s good for you and shake things up a bit!
