long day

Monday, January 03, 2011

today was a very long day for me. Couldn't sleep in like I wanted so got up at 5am
Got the hats and prayer shawls I'm crocheting Aunt Betty finished except weaving in the ends. I'll do that tomorrow.
MIL gave me a scare today. Her apartment is built on the side of our house and we have a connecting hall (& her wash room) with privacy doors on both sides. I had just finished my yoga and was about to start cardio when I heard her smoke detector go off and her yell for help.... Her oven was smoking and sparking like crazy and she couldn't think of what to do. So I slammed the door shut, turned it off.... only the broiler wouldn't turn off. So I cut off the electric to it. After calming my MIL down (and myself as well) I called the repair man, then took her chicken out of the oven. Surprised it wasn't ruined. (I finished cooking it for her while waiting for the repair man) Come to find out when the element in the bottom burned out it shorted out the broiler switch... he's getting a part and will repair it Wed. or Thurs.
I finally got my cardio done, got our supper cooked and am worn out....
Tomorrow is another long day, I have to drive 2 hrs 1 way to take DH to see his neurologist.
then 2 hrs back home again... He's OK just a check so he can have his seizure meds refilled. It's going to be hard to work in my exercise but I'll find a way to get some in. The hardest part is the driving makes my joints hurt.

Sounds like your heart got racing for a couple of different reasons yesterday. Hope you can get in a little exercise after that drive--it might help you hurt less. Take care.

Itis scary it seems to be happening more and more. I always though if the oven broke it didn't get hot, not it won't turn off? I know driving is terrible but at least you don't have to do it very often. stay safe

That was scary and you handled it so well.
Yoga heads are cool thinkers, all of that wonderful breath control.
I sure can relate to the back aches after long drives. I felt totally wiped out after we drove through the mountains for 8 Hours on Sunday. Pat in Maine. Take care tomorrow. HUGS!!!

You are a hero! I don't know how many people would have been as cool-headed as you to cut off the power. Good job!

And good luck tomorrow. I used to love road trips, and still do, but they are not as much fun when you have to pay for them with pain.

Keep up the exercise. I'm glad you're not making excuses. Let's just keep making excuses to KEEP on doing them.
