Yay, ME!

It's been a while since I've blogged.
I've been good. Things have been muy bien in my neck of the woods aside from dh losing his newly attained job - the apprenticeship program ended up being full, so they had to let him go after almost 3 months...bummer, but we will survive as we always do. The Holidays were wonderful and I spent almost 2 weeks off with the kiddos which was so good. Didn't do much other than cook a lot (probably since I don't cook every single day when I'm working all the time) so I know they enjoyed it. I didn't really overdo it with the festivities this year either - I mean, in the eating and drinking department.

Yay, me!
I got out there and jogged 6 times during my time off, despite it being freezing and rainy out. This was huge for me. The rain is one thing, but freezing air is another that I don't particularly care to jog (let alone walk) in!

Yay, me!
I focused on the techniques the trainer who's working with us has been teaching me for the upcoming 5k next month, on 2/6 (Did I mention a day after my birthday? - Oh yeah, probably only about ten times lol). Worked on hip flexion and the new quad and shin stretches. I feel more flexibility and an increase in my stamina as well. My very first 5k - exactly a month and a day away...

Yay, me!
SO ... here we are with another new year to set goals and focus on how we want to improve ourselves. I say I'm pretty darn good right now, as I am. Just the fact that I'm out there prefering to DO things rather than vegitate at home is a big achievement. I am in the realization that my actions are setting prime examples for those around me that life is good - and that it's what we make of it to a great extent. That eating right is GOOD - that being active is ADDICTING - that NOTHING beats a good addrenaline rush in the form of some type of heart pounding workout or hike or whatever gets you going! That it's ok to blast the music at home and dance around like a lunatic.
So, what is my focus? Accomplishing this 5k is for now. Being good to myself is another. Remember that I'm just as important as all the other people in my life. Toning up is a big one, too. I will also be getting back into school to continue my prereqs for the RN program this summer. (Thanks, Jess) After all, I'm not getting any younger...lol

I'd love to finally sign up for windsurfing classes this year too.
Here goes nothing...bring it, 2011...I dare ya!
Yay, ME!
xoxo
