Suppose, at your next doctor's appointment, you are told she or he has a foolproof plan for you to shorten your life.
Would you listen?
Or would you be mad as all get out and tell that so-called physician to take that plan and, well, do something with it?
I can't imagine any of us listening to advice on how to shave years off of our lives, can you?
But that is what so many are doing, just without the formal doctor's plan in hand. What are they doing to carve five or 10 or maybe 20 years off of their lives?
1. Overeating every day
2. Never exercising
We should all know by now that obesity leads to illnesses and causes us untold frustration, embarrassment, irritation and a shorter life span.
So why do so many people ignore these dire warnings? Do they want to die too soon? Or are they lazy, unmotivated, depressed or suffering from an inferiority complex that tells them they do not deserve to be healthy and at a weight that will make them happy and fulfilled?
I don't have the answers to those questions, but I do know that overeating every day and never exercising is a surefire way to head to an early grave.
You don't want that, do you? Don't you want to spend as many productive years as you can with your family and friends? Don't you want to spend your years on earth as happy as you can be rather than wallowing in self-pity and despair?
Of course you do!
Then ignore the doctor's orders and do these two things, guaranteed to help give you your life back:
1. Eat sensibly every day
2. Exercise as often and as much as you are able, even a few minutes here and there.
That's it. Pretty simple, isn't it?
