When life gives you a lemon, trade it in....

Friday, January 14, 2011

Ah, life. Just when you think you can't take anything else, God let's me know that "oh, yes you can." He's right, but man, does it suck. Here's a short re-cap of what life is like right now:

Irritants (sounds better than saying negatives emoticon):

marital issues

money issues

need to get a full time job; am having no luck thus far

heat does not work properly in my car

engine light just went off in my car on my way to a meeting this morning

two nights ago, my 45 yr old brother in law was dropped in our lap as he was kicked out of his parents house in CA, and is living on my couch

clutter (be it papers or people) in my house

can't find comfortable winter boots (really? sounds so benign, but I'm on a roll now! emoticon)

can't find sweaters that are long enough to cover my behind while not looking like Arnie's Tarp & Tent (thank you for that phrase MRS!)

working through those marital issues

have a contact to call on Monday morning for my car (thank you wHoly Fit!)

have heat in the house, if not the car

have my lovable, adorable, faithful dog who has been my protector these past two days (who knew he had a protective streak!)

have a computer in which to continue looking for a full time job (and to spark, of course)

had a very good meeting this morning

have 2 gift cards to buy a new bra and maybe a sweater to cover my hiney & hips

SUPER POSITIVES (yes, there is a distinction):

For the first time EVER during a crisis, I have stayed within my calorie range and logged my food every day!!!!!!!!

I completed 150 minutes of exercises in 3 days and am getting ready to don my workout clothes to do my dvd that's scheduled for today!!!!

Despite everything else, that right there is a victory for me! emoticon

I have today and this moment and that's all I choose to focus on.

Rock on, kids. emoticon

Life is a shipwreck but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats. ~Voltaire

Shannon, keep singing those positives! You are such an inspiration to all of us. If life's frustrations get you down and you need to vent (rant and rave), send me an email. It sometimes helps just to get things off our chest. I can only offer an "ear", but am more than happy to do so. emoticon

I'm not happy for the things you are experiencing but I know that morning is coming for you. Changing what you can and surrendering what you can't and focusing on today and not turning to food...yes, indeed...VICTORY! Love you lots!!

PS. Give Finn a big hug from me as a thank you for taking care of his momma.

((((Shannon))))Good for you for hanging on to your routines and health streak! Not reaching for the comfort of food during this crisis is a hugh victory for you! I cannot tell you how proud of you I am with this blog. I read a lot of negatives inn this blog. But I did not get a single ounce of despair or depression. In fact I read a woman that is not going to let things out of her control get her down. You have such strength Shannon. Indomitable, unbeatable, and fearless.

Love that the pooch is taking care of momma.

While I don't like the irritant's you are going through including the Arnie's Tarp and Tent situation ;-) I am SOOO proud of you for not only seeing the positives but for NOT turning to food to get you through those times. It can seem like a quick fix or a good distraction but what's more distraction is realizing you can't shut the bathroom door without shutting your butt in it and wonder "when did THAT happen?" Yep, I've done it! LOL So proud of you!
