Motivation, motivation, motivation! The 31 Days program seems big on motivation. On the other hand, I guess that's what keeps us going, in the long run. Today's task is to write about my motivation - why did I choose my goals? What has inspired me to put my energy into health?

Well, when you think about it, that's sort of an obvious question. Shouldn't we all naturally want to put energy into health? We feel better, our medical expenses go down, fewer visits to the doctor, presumably longer (and happier) life.

These are no-brainers. Yet many of us are challenged in food... versus health. Hating exercise... versus health. Hating to drink water... versus health. Not wanting to get enough sleep... versus health.

For me, of all of the above, the food challenge is the worst. Hands-down. I love cooking; I love food. I always will. But...

My tastes HAVE changed. Even over this short period of time. And they do whenever I truly take charge of my eating. My body feels much better (well, except for having a cold currently). I have more energy.

Motivations, finally:

To live a long, energetic life.
To be able to run after grandchildren or other little children if grandchildren never happen.
To return to activities that I once loved, but now seem out of reach.
To shop wherever I darn please.
To wear normal bras
To be less temperature sensitive.
To be truly excited again about travel.

So, those all work for me. What about you? What are your motivations for this journey?

Ooooo! Janet, I like the last two goals! My son is graduating this June, too - let's get GREAT dresses and post our pics! Wooohooo! And yes, mother of the groom thing, too. ;-) And yes, isn't it funny how motivations change with age. I LIKE being older, actually.

Your motivations are so close to mine. :) I suppose that's because we are so close in age.

I want to be strong enough to explore and experience the world!
I want to be active in retirement.
I want to be an active & fit grandparent (if and when - touch wood)
I want to wear a pretty dress at my son's graduation in June.
3 sons - mother of the groom on day? In a pretty dress and shoes!!!

*** so long to the double chin too *** emoticon

Best wishes to you on your journey! Let's do this together! emoticon
