2011 so far...

Just a brief check-in to say that this month hasn’t gone exactly according to the plan that I had laid out in my head. In fact, it hasn’t gone at all as I had intended but I am moving forward nonetheless.

One day at a time, I’m taking it as it comes. I’m trying to plan less and do more because it seems that at least for me the more I plan the less that gets done. For smaller things like laying out my clothes or packing lunches for the next day; I’m good. However, if I overthink the game plan for eating and/or getting to the gym, I somehow end up overwhelmed and do nothing.

I have no idea of the end date for me reaching my goal weight; all I can say for sure is that it will happen this year. For now I’m focusing less on that and more on the now and the “doing” part and hope that will carry me where I want to be in the right amount of time.

    My mom says it's not about setting off in the right direction and never making a wrong turn. It's about constantly adjusting when you notice you are off track.

    Goals and end-dates can be good motivators, but when they start DE-motivating you, throw them out the window and take it day by day. Be healthier today than you were yesterday. Who cares if you ate pizza for lunch?? That doesn't mean exercising won't make your heart healthier in the evening.

    Hang in there. This journey is fine when we're feeling motivated and strong, but really? Who feels motivated and strong all the time? If was ACTUALLY easy, Sparkpeople wouldn't exist.

    It's all Baby steps girl! Set small goals, and little changes to the daily lifestyle. Focus on what you can or will do that day and it will feel less of a challenge than the big picture. Keep going, the great thing is you haven't given up and you're determined that this will be the year. We're here with you to get this done! emoticon emoticon

    Good for you! I am the same way, as long as I dont keep a tedious plan I can get through the day fine, the moment I make a plan that I tell myself I have to stick to it, I fall off the wagon..

    But dont worry its one step at a time and you are definitely making steps towards where you want to be this year and I am positive you will get there emoticon

    There is some great insight in this blog. I think sometimes we get wrapped up in our big plans that we forget to execute or psyche ourselves out of action. You are reevaluating early on and recognizing this issue and now you can turn things around. Here's to getting our booties back in action!

    Small goals one at a time can help keep you focused. Concentrate on one thing, conquer that and then move on. See if that helps.
