my 1st tour & cooking duck

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

I took my first pretend tour today.

While doing my 30 min step-ups I watched Burt Wolf's tour of Budapest.
It was a lot of fun pretending I was walking through the city.
Climbing through the Opera house while classical music was being played on the piano. Visiting Museums, a palace, parks, and hot springs.

I could almost smell the fresh herbs, spices, and foods of the market.
I didn't cheat like Burt did (he took the subway I didn't).
And when it came to the pastry shop...let's just say Burt has a lot of cals to walk off...
while I didn't eat a thing... just drank my water.

I was having so much fun before I knew it my time was up... 30 minutes.
For the fist time I was able to do my step ups without thinking I wasn't going to make it.

Best part is I got all my exercise done this morning and felt like I had energy all day.
It was great.

Now on to the duck I cooked but we didn't eat tonight.
I was following a dif. recipe than the one like to use.... big mistake.
I checked the temp... everything looked good....
went to cut it up.... not as done as it should have been... bummer

Had to think on my feet to have something for supper.
I made some spaghetti using whole wheat pasta, some veggies I sautéed in cooking spray, and tomato sauce. Topped with low fat cheese. Went pretty good with the asparagus and salad I made. Oh and finished the meal with peaches & Cool Whip free.

As for the stupid duck, I tossed it in the crock pot with some herbs and water. I'll bone it out and use it for something later.

Sounds like a wonderful meal. Wish I could think on feet like that for a last minute gourmet meal. Sounds delic.
Great job on your step ups. It's always nice when it goes that well - Keeping your mind off what your doing helps.
