4 year Anniversary

Today marks my 4 year anniversary of the day I started on my getting fit and healthy journey. 1/22/2007 seems so long ago in many ways, but just like yesterday in others. :0) I've done so much and come so far, but on the other hand, I still have things to do and a ways to go. I'm still pounds away from my goal, but I've managed to keep 100+ lbs off since hitting that milestone in 10/2007. I've keep up my working out even when my eating goes off the rails. I only lost a significant amount of weight once before (75 lbs in 2002) and in less than a year, I started regaining the weight plus additional pounds until that fateful day, 1/22/2007, when I'd just made the decision that I was no longer going to sit back, let life pass me by, and stay at that weight or gain even more. I thought my life would change with the weight loss, but I had no idea just how much! As much as I am a 'control freak' and a bit OCD, I'm glad I didn't know where life would take me because the 'ride' has been simply amazing!!

Accomplishments...

Lost 100+ lbs and kept it off
Started working out regularly...cardio and strength training
Started running
Ran first ever 5k in 2008
Joined beginner's running program (No Boundaries) in 2009
Ran 8 races in 2009 (5ks and 10ks)
Became a No Boundaries Mentor in 2010
Ran 22 races in 2010 from 5ks, 10ks, 15ks, half marathons, and a MARATHON!!
Made a whole slew of new friends who've been the best part of my new and enhanced life
Attempted activities I'd either never done before (snowshoeing) or hadn't done in many years (some over 20 years ago...biking, swimming, ice skating)

I'm sure there are other accomplishments I can't even think of right now.

When I think of what I haven't accomplished in the last 4 years, the only thing that comes to mind is reaching my goal weight. What that tells me is that I'm finally not letting my weight hold me back. I used to put off doing things until....until I'd lost weight being the prime example. I'm so glad I changed that way of thinking because I otherwise would have missed out on so much.I'm sure I'll reach my goal weight eventually, but regardless, I'm going to keep doing, doing, and doing!!

Happy Anniversary to me...my new body and my new attitude!!
