Enjoy the Ride

Most of you reading my blogs this week are participating in the Double Dawg Blog Dare. Earlier today, I noticed that a couple of you noted “nothing to blog about” as the reason that you do not blog more frequently. I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes I just don’t have anything to talk about. OR I don’t want to talk about what I have going on. A lot of times I blog jibber jabber just so I can get the points for my team.
Have you ever scrolled all the way to the bottom of the main SparkPeople page? Way down at the bottom is a list of popular links, and one of those is MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES! Now who can’t get excited about motivational or inspirational quotes, right? If you don’t have anything to blog about grab a quote to share and reflect upon. If you do not like the ones here, there are lots on the Internet, in bookstores, and in your Bible or other spiritual book of choice. I am going to choose one from the SparkPeople collection tonight.
“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” ~~~ Ursula K. Le Guin
You know one of the topics that I teach every semester is the importance of setting goals and goal setting techniques. I stress that it is essential to have academic goals, and it is not enough just to set a goal for a degree. Well . . . . that might be true for academics, but I am not sure it is true for life in general.
Maybe setting all those goals get in way of living life -- taking the journey. Maybe, just maybe, sometimes it works to be flexible enough to toss the goals and enjoy the ride from time to time.
