Well, I didn't realize I hadn't been here since Wednesday, but I'm not surprised. I was given some test results and found out I am allergic to gluten, dairy and eggs. It's quite a transition for someone who's favorite comfort food was a fried egg and cheddar cheese sandwich on an english muffin. Well, they say you're attracted to your allergens! ;-)

I was expecting the gluten and the dairy, but not the eggs, which apparently is the most severe of the three.

So far, I'm not phased by any of this. If this allows me to heal my immune system and start dropping pounds, all of this is surmountable. It also shows me how far I've come (even without the cooperation of the scale) because I think I avoided these tests for some time thinking I could never give up bread, pizza, cheese, etc. There's a possibility that dairy could be added in at some point, but I'm not counting on that.

Even after a couple of days, I'm sensing some changes. It would be great is this were a solution to several things I've been struggling with for so long. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith.

    Hi Jen! I sent all (ok, ate some..) of the leftover candy into work w/Mike. Having it around was too hard. I crack and eat it after dinner - I'm ok until then. Go figure.

    I overdid it w/pilates and spent a day w/back spasms yesterday, but Mike and I will try to go swimming. He expressed some interest in the Spark thing. Cross your fingers... meanwhile, I'm doing well as we speak! Hope you are, too. It's not easy, is it? Good luck w/taking those things out of your diet Amy emoticon

    Are you allergic to gluten or gluten intolerant? There is a difference.

    The silk almond milk is good. I often get that for me even though I am not allergic to dairy. Also, check out your local health food store for gluten-free things although you will have to check them all to make sure they are egg-free also. Rudi's brand of bread is good. That's what I eat. Or I have my mom make me some homemade from a gluten-free mix. I've also had a hamburger between 2 corn tortillas. You'll get used to it.

    Wow! What incredible news! I'm so glad that you found out about your allergies - obviously, you will be making great strides forward in your health now that you've found out what is good and what is "oh so bad" for your body!

    Hi Janice and Sock - I was checked for this in part because I haven't been dropping weight at all. So, this will probably help a lot. So far, it hasn't been daunting - just a new adventure. :-) It may also help with quite a number of chronic health issues I've had over the years, and if it does - YAY!!!

    Jen: Wow. That's news. How did you even know to check for gluten intolerance? You hear a lot about it these days. Well, there are lots of gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free options out there. You're not alone. Drop the meat and you'll be vegan again. :-) I know you are up to the challenge. You'll figure it all out!
