A Mixed Bag....

Wednesday, February 09, 2011

Mondays and Wednesdays are hard....unless I learn to get up when there is a 5 on the clock in the morning - and honestly I don't see it happening.

I watch my niece on those two days, from 7:30 until 6.....she is 9 months old, and that is all I can say about that....she requires attention - except when she is napping, and at those times, I squeeze in all of the house chores I can.

At 3:30 both kids are home from school and I juggle her and helping them with school work, and then it is off for afternoon activities...typically not landing us home for dinner until 7ish....

So - today was a mixed bag....some poor food choices....4 oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.....without those I would have been OK - but they were there and I just couldn't help myself....without them, I would have been in all ranges but protien....didn't eat enough of that....with them, I am a couple hundred calories over for the day.

I am not beating myself up - I had a moment of weakness. I did not let that dictate my whole day. I did my quickfire (shadow boxing for a minute at a time throughout the day.) It felt wierd. I did my bootcamp through twice, and my pushups.

I only had that little blip of cardio for the day - and it was Week 5 Day 3 day for C25K....I hadn't done it yet...it was 8:30.....I could have very easily put the PJ's on, and called it a day - but instead, I put the running clothes on - and hit the treadmill.....the goal today was 2 miles or 20 minutes....I did both.

I really admire runners who can run faster than that for a long time....I can't imagine my legs going any faster than that...I really can't - and I am OK with that - because in the end - it's not the speed at which I run - it is the fact that I am running that makes a difference.....I burned 226 calories according to Spark, not bad for 20 minutes....

I just hope that the late night cardio doesn't cause a sleepless night --- but I am going to grab my book (JD Robb Holiday in Death) and do some relaxing reading after a nice warm shower....

Tomorrow is weigh in day - and I hadn't really thought about that either before I ran - late night exercise might impace the scale (although not as much as those cookies) - so cross your fingers.....I don't feel a lot of muscle tightness...so hopefully I am not holding fluid in my legs....

2 10 min miles is fabulous. I don't think I can do that - I'm lucky if I can do 1. Oh well, spring is on it's way & I'll start running again.

Ahh, I dream of one day being able to manage 10 minute miles. Great job, Robyn, for that and for all you did yesterday! I really like that you didn't let the cookies set the tone or ruin your day.

I love that you had a moment of weakness with the cookies, but got back on track! I don't bounce back so quickly... yet! And, congrats on the running. You are doing wonderful! It sounds like you are very dedicated.
