MRI Complete.....now what?

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

So I went in Monday afternoon for the MRI and it went quite well. It was easily done and was out in less than 30 minutes. I got the results back today and it was negative for a meniscus tear which is good. Problem is.....what is causing the pain? I mentioned in my previous blog that I would rather have gotten a positive result so that I knew what was wrong. So now my doc wants me to setup a visit to the physical therapist for a session. His thought now is that it could be a patella issue. Honestly, I think he is out of guesses. So I guess I'll give this a shot and see what they say. I just really don't want this to derail my running ability and the warmer weather is just around the corner. I had to drop something off at my neighbors on Saturday (two blocks away) and I decided to run over there. I wanted to see what it felt like and it didn't really hurt at all. I just know that I could feel it and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to cover much distance on a real run.

Hopefully the rest of you are doing better than I am. My eating has been thrown out the window as well. I can't say I'm on the best trail right now. Just have to keep picking myself up and stay in the right direction.

I honestly say it will just go away as fast as it comes Jason. I went thru the same thing. I guess too much weight on my knee attempting to run isn't a good thing.

    I am BACK today!

Glad that you went for the MRI and in a way, glad that they didn't find anything serious. I hope that the doctor can find out what is causing the pain. Don't let this derail everything you have worked so hard for. I know you like to run, but have you considered bicycling or swimming?

    Best of luck to you..

Have you considered a chiro visit? I went with my knee pain and after an adjustment my pain went away. This was pain that was keeping me up at night - and with one adjustment - GONE! Just a thought.....
