Trying Something New!

Well, I've been on my program - both with food and exercise now but seem to have hit a wall. I've been reading about the 5K Your Way - Walk/Jog program and thought I'd give it a try.
I walk almost 30 minutes per day at around 3 mph on my treadmill and seemed to meet the requirements for this program. Well, I'm here to tell you that jogging for only 1 minute every 4 minutes for a total of 25 minutes is MUCH harder than I thought. I was never a jogger and always thought that the only way I'd ever run was if someone was chasing me. However, I thought that surely only a total jog of 5 minutes within 25 minutes couldn't be that bad.
Well, I'm here to tell you that it was bad! It's sad to say that I couldn't make the last minute of jogging. I'm sure that if my son was home he would have been on the floor laughing uncontrollably since he is a Marine.
So the program was set up to do this for 3 days one week, then move onto a slightly more demanding time for jogging each week for 5 weeks. Since I haven't made it even the first day, it looks like my approach will be a LOT slower.
I'm glad I tried the program, now I just have to do it "my" way ...... I have no plans to be a jogger any day soon, but it would be nice to be able to do it for a short period if I ever needed to.... like a race for a great shoe sale!
