My first Triathlon! YAY!

My friend Jamie (Buddies31771) and I signed up for our very first Triathlong this past Sunday. It's an indoor event that several of our friends have done in the past and so we felt it was a great way to experience breaking into a tri.
So I slept in very short stints Saturday night, although I set my alarm clock and my phone for the "right" time based on DST I was still nervous that I would oversleep and miss my sign in time and not be able to compete. I got up around 6:15 (my wave was at 9:20) ate my steel cut oats with a good tablespoon of peanut butter in them for some added protien and energy, had a cup of coffee and a bottle of water (hey gotta hydrate) and started getting ready to leave.
Got to the college with about an hour or so to spare before my race so I just kinda chilled out, DH and DD went to McD's get me OJ (and to pass the time for them).
When my time came and I was up... Swimming first (15 mintues) I was in a group with 6 others. 3 of them were obviously very well versed in TRI and very athletic men. (Hello eye candy) then there was a younger (college student) athletic female and another mom I would have guessed around my age, maybe a little younger. So it was a pretty good mixed group. The swimming was my most difficult event I feel. I did 28 laps in 15 minutes which is 700 yards or .4 miles. The transition was easier than I thought it would be. I decided to go with my Nike Swiming tank and bike shorts so I only had to change out of my swim bottoms and into the shorts. I think if I did another tri I would invest in a good Tri Suit / or Tri-Top which will dry faster since the 40 or so minutes I was in the wet suit it did irritate me slightly.
The bikes were WIERD.... it was a spinning bike set up with a tachometer essentially. I did 6.78 miles in the 15 minutes and I really feel like I could have done better but I was bouncing on the seat because they were set with NO resistence. So it felt very odd in comparison to usual spinning.
The run was the last event and it was again a 15 mintue event. I did 13.25 (just over a mile and a half).
So all in all it was a great experience and I'm pretty certain I will do more!
