Well, I've decided to do the veggie pot garden again this year. I like having it in the front yard, I just pick the veggies on my way in after work. Tomatoes, peppers (both hot and sweet kinds), romaine, spinach, strawberries, onions, herbs, and later I'll have radishes, bush beans, and cukes and squash growing up over the porch rails. Maybe I'll throw some peas in there, too. I have daisies, coreopsis, blanketflower, and sunflowers to start the backyard wildflower garden with and there's a new yellow Lady Banks rose to cover the fence.
My 4-year-old niece has convinced her mom and dad that she also needs a garden. The child LOVES growing things, she already has a shade garden and she practically lives at the Huntsville Botannical Garden. Her dad has converted her sandbox into a raised garden for her and she's got the seeds started--corn, watermelon, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, carrots, and sunflowers and a grapevine to go on the fence. Yes, that's right, she'd rather have a vegetable garden than a sandbox.
