Number151 A Few Sore Muscles and A Sense Of Accomplishment.

Well today I completed my first 5K walk. I really wanted to try jogging but I knew I was not ready for that and a few days before I had overextended a muscle in my leg from dance practice. The weather here in Ohio was cold and it was very early for me so that was a challenge itself. Despite the cold weather it was a beautiful sunny day so that helped.
A Group of us all signed up and it was great that we could all be there to encourage one another. One of our group made her first jog and that was exciting to root her on as she passed us heading back towards the finish line. As we walked in our group we started to break off according to our pace. I buddied up with my friend Jane and we plugged along at a nice steady but upbeat pace. The hills were a challenge, they just seemed to go on forever up and Down up and down. Halfway through the second mile I could feel the burn in my legs but I kept on going. When We reached the mile 2 marker we became energized and kept walking. As we were walking Jane said" I bet we can pass those four girls up ahead of us"" You wanna try?" I sighed when I thought about it because the next big hill was upon us. But I wasn't going to give up so I agreed with Jane and on we continued. We did pass the four girls and soon we could could see the entrance into the park and we knew we where almost to the finish line. When we got there our jogger friend and her husband where there to root us on . It felt so good to finish knowing that I had accomplished something that I thought I would never do in the past.
We waited for the rest of our friends to root them on at the finish line and then we all celebrated in our accomplishments knowing that a year ago we wouldst even be able to walk such a race. We were all winners today. I just want to say to my friends I'm Proud Of You and You are Worth It!
