Bummed, but not defeated!!

Monday, April 11, 2011

Hello everyone!

I have been having troubles with my scales at home for the last two weeks, and have been getting some very uneven weights. I decided to go and get professionally weighed in and see what my weight actually was. I was expecting maybe for my scale to be off a few pounds, maybe even ten pounds, but to say I was floored when I stepped on that scaled would be an understatement!!

Instead of the 356 that my scale told me that morning, or the 343 it told me the week before, my offical weight was 390.8! More than 30 lbs off!

I am very aggravated and bummed about this, especially about not being as far along as I thought, but I'm not going to let it get me down. This is just a new starting place for me.

Thank you so much to all of you who supported me, and congratulated me on my "supposed" weight loss over the last few weeks. From now on I will only be using my professional weigh-ins and have kicked the old scales to the curb! I'm ready to see some real numbers next week!!

Thank you for your continued support! HUGS!

    Hello there,
I just want to give you a big hug and tell you that your attitude made me feel good. I know that if a scale did that to me, it would be hard not to feel devestated. But, actually though the numbers are different, physically your not any heavier so its not extra weight you have to lose--it was there all the time. Proud of you for your excellent attitude. Maybe it will rub off on me lol.

Was really touched by your post. I only started on sparkpeople about 7 weeks ago and I weighed in for the first two weeks on my old scales (old, old, old scales) that i have been using since Noah was a boy. They were not very good but i had no idea they were as off as they were (mainly because they were just not made for my heavy weight). I bought a new pair of scales and stood on them expecting a little bit of difference and there was 11kg (over 24 pounds difference). All that day I wanted so much to just give it all up but I knew I couldn't. I love my family too much and I love life too much. So together we will face the hard stuff and win together. Thankyou for being so honest and telling it like it is.. you have blessed me heaps and I know we can both do it.

Hang in there! I had the same issue a month ago....it was so frustrating. Just joined Spark today and ready to get serious. I was over 425 last March, and have lost 40 lbs this past year, with some yo-yo-ing. But I'm now refocused and am hoping SP can help! God bless!

I've been through it before too.
I was so humiliated, especially by the snotty nurse who "just couldn't believe" how far off I was from my real weight.

You've got the right attitude. Just think of it this way...
the more you weigh the faster it comes off, right? LOL

    Hang in there!
