Why is it so quick to put on,so slow to come off?

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

I have been Sparking for 2 years now. (Time flies!) I have had spurts of being very faithful tracking and exercising and staying in my range of calories. I have had others where I didn't track at all. In fact, I had a long period of time during these two years I was pretty much sedentary. I managed to only put back on 4 lbs. of the 13 I had lost.

So fast forward to 5 weeks ago. I joined Weight Watchers because my friend really didn't want to go by herself and we joined Jazzercise together. Long story short, I have not gone over my WW points once, I am also tracking here as well as the WW points and I haven't gone over my calorie range here at all either. I am staying in my range of proteins, carbs, fats etc. (a little low on the fiber sometimes) I am going to Jazzercise M,W,F and working my behind off! I wear a heart rate monitor and I am burning an average of 550 calories a workout. I love this class, I feel better than ever.

So what's my problem? In the five weeks I have only lost 5 pounds. One week I gained .2 pounds!!!??? It is so discouraging. I know slow and steady wins the race, and I know I am benefiting in more ways than weight loss, but I read blogs and see others lose at a much quicker pace. I don't want Biggest Loser numbers, I'd be happy with 1 pound some weeks but 2 pounds others at least!

I am not going to give up, but I wonder if there is something else I can do? I suppose I need to exercise 5 days a week.

Btw, my friend who got me to join WW and Jazzercise, doesn't track a thing, has only gone to Jazzercise 2 times (she hurt her back) and has lost 2 pounds to my 5!

I sure wish I would have a 2 pound loss next week!

Try not to get discouraged! You're doing great! Are there other ways you can see your progress, like having more energy, feeling stronger, your clothes fitting better, etc.? Be proud of what you've done, and stick with it. I'm sure the weight will start to come off soon. emoticon emoticon
