keeping the momentum going

Saturday, April 30, 2011

Just got back from a 3-day road trip. Feels good to be back home! It's a challenge to find healthy options when you're on the road. Unlike prior attempts at weight loss, I didn't let this trip derail me. I was able to get my walk/run in every day to keep my new streak going. Granted, it's just 5 days in a row, but I used to let any change in routine throw me off and I usually wouldn't get started back. I just feel so much better when I'm able to exercise and eat right. Oh yeah, and get enough sleep. My energy level and eating habits are very different from my other half's; it makes it challenging, but I'm doing this for me and my health and have decided not to compare myself to others for a change but to set goals and work towards meeting those goals. I don't give a rat's patootie if anyone else likes them or not. I'm responsible for my own health and no one will take care of me if I don't. And how can I take care of others if I can't even take care of myself? I pull up the collage that I put together during one of the spark exercises and it helps keep me motivated. Watching any of the hurling or Gaelic football games I have taped helps as well. I'm dropping "I can't" and replacing it with "I can"!!!

(today's little pep talk)

Kim..Great blog!! You remind me of myself on my journey!! I focused on my goal, & let NOTHING get in my way!! I didn't care about what anybody else thought or said..I did it for me! By the way 5 days in a row..AWESOME!!!! Your 5 days will soon turn to 20, then 50, then..WOO-HOO..365! Those baby steps add up to.... Goal met! Just remember..."It's a marathon..not a sprint"!! Good job..you are getting it done!!

Great job! It can be very difficult to stick with a program when you are away from home. I am also on day 5 of a streak (started so many times I have lost count!) I am calling May my month for meltdown! Ready to shed some baggage!
Keep up the good work! You can do it! emoticon

I love reading positive blogs, thank you! It also makes me happy when people put themselves and their health goals first. Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it. emoticon
