Eating Clean - My 28 Day Journey - Day 14

Monday, May 09, 2011

Fourteen days...2 weeks of eating (mostly) clean. I can hardly believe it! This is for Mother's Day which meant my food options came from someone else for a portion of my day as my mom and I were at my uncle's house to celebrate our mothers. I started and ended my day at home, though.

As it was Mother's Day, I got a call from my DD before 8 AM (so much for sleeping in) and then talked to my sons later in the day. My daughter called me in the afternoon and texted me in the evening as well. LOVE that kid. It's good to have at least one kid who is all about the mama! :)

I got to spend time with my mom, two aunts, two uncles, my cousins and their families, my grandma and Oma. It was wonderful! We sat out in the sun and I even got some color...we Irish pink up a bit before we darken up. SO...it's a start!

Meal 1 - muesli with craisins, coffee, water, cashews. Only ate half my muesli mixture.

Meal 2 - apple, water.

Meal 3 - corn on the cob, terriyaki chicken, salad with strawberries, feta and red onions w/light newman's own balsamic vinaigrette (no balsamic vinegar or lemons there so I made the best choice I could).

Meal 4 - 1/3 of a burger patty and sliced apples.

Meal 5 - cashews and a banana.

I was whipped so I went to bed after lying on the couch a while around 830. I was awakened around 1130 by a call from my uncle telling me that Oma had passed away and asking me to call my mom. Oma had been sick for a few years and it had gotten progressively worse the last 6-9 months. She'd been moved to hospice last week. He told me her last words were, "I just can't do this anymore." I am thankful she's no longer sick and limited by her illness. She will be missed!

I'm so sorry about your loss. Heather but I'm sure you were happy to have spent some time with her before she passed! When my SIL passed away years ago, I was at her bedside with her daughter and she said basically the very same thing...she had cancer and was in alot of pain and two hours before she dies she said " I can't " and shook her head. We were actually relieved that she was out of her pain.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you were able to spend some time with her earlier during that day, and I hope that will be a cherished memory for you.
